  1. What is SlideBoom?

    SlideBoom is a place for sharing PowerPoint presentations and slideshows on the web. It converts your presentation to Flash for quick and easy viewing. You don't have to worry whether someone has the right version of PowerPoint.

    You can upload PowerPoint presentations, tag them, include them in your blog or web site, and receive comments on them.

  2. What can I do with SlideBoom?

    You can convert any content created in PowerPoint into Flash and share it with your friends, family, colleagues, clients, teachers, students, and the whole world. You can share the following types of multimedia content that you create:

    • Slideshows (photos, text, shapes, audio, etc.)
    • E-cards
    • E-learning content (lectures and tutorials)
    • Business content (presentations and demo slideshows)
    • Virtual tours of homes, museums, special events, and more
  3. What formats are supported by SlideBoom?

    SlideBoom supports PowerPoint 2000, XP, 2003, 2007 and 2010 presentations (*.ppt, *.pptx) and slideshows (*.pps, *.ppsx). The largest file size allowed is 100 megs.

  4. I use OpenOffice Impress on my Windows or Linux PC. Can I use SlideBoom?

    Sure. If you use OpenOffice Impress, you can export your presentation into PowerPoint format (Select File > Save As. From the file type list, select "Microsoft PowerPoint" and upload it to SlideBoom.

  5. I use Keynote on my Mac. Can I use SlideBoom?

    Sure. In Keynote, export your presentation into PowerPoint format (Select File > Export, then select the "PowerPoint" tab) and upload it to SlideBoom.

  6. How can I upload a presentation that is more than 100 Mb?

    Download and install iSpring Free, a free PowerPoint add-in for Slideboom. It works right in PowerPoint so you can upload larger presentations.

  7. How to upload a presentation with video?

    Download and install iSpring Free, a free PowerPoint add-in for Slideboom. It works within PowerPoint and lets you include a video in the presentation.

  8. Do I need a permission to embed slides on any blog?

    You don't need any permission. Just go ahead and embed slides anywhere you want.

  9. Is it possible to embed a SlideBoom presentation into a WordPress blog post?

    You can easily embed SlideBoom presentations into WordPress posts with the SlideBoom plugin for WordPress. This blog post explains.

  10. Is there a way to shorten the URL so I can share my presentation through SMS (text messaging)?

    Yes, and we're happy to share the secret with you. You can shorten the link using the following pattern:

    /<PRESENTATION_NUMBER >
    So, the following URLs point to the same presentation:
    /presentations/4141/Web-2.0-Tools-for-Teaching-%26-Learning

  11. Who owns the copyright of the content I upload?

    The person who created the presentation owns its copyright. If somebody uploads a presentation created by another person without the presentation owner's permission, we will remove the presentation.

    Please look at the sections titled "Intellectual Property Rights," "User Submissions and Conduct," and "Copyright Policy" in our Terms of Use.

  12. How do I adjust the size of the embedded block so that the presentation fits into the available space in my blog?

    You can adjust dimensions of the player by changing width and height parameters in the embed code. The parameters you need to adjust are highlighted in the sample code below:

  13. Am I able to discuss a presentation in Slideboom sort of like in PowerPoint?

    Yes, SlideBoom offers you a graphic commenting feature. A set of graphic tools is available by clicking a pen button on the player toolbar. These tools are for highlighting necessary fragments of pictures and text.

  14. How can I agree or disagree with a given comment?

    You can express your positive or negative attitude to a given comment by clicking "thumb-up" or "thumb-down".

  15. How do I report inappropriate comments?

    Please, click white flag button to complain, if you see any comment that you consider defiant.

  16. Can I share a comment I particularly liked with my friend?

    Yes, you certainly can. Just go to "Share comment", copy a necessary link and send it to whoever you prefer.

  17. Can I turn off the "related presentations" screen that pops up in the end of my slideshow?

    Yes, you are free to switch it off.

    Just change an "autoOpenShareScreen" setting from 1 to 0 before embedding a corresponding code into your blog, as shown:
    If you had <object ... autoOpenShareScreen=1"></embed></object>,
    then change it to <object ... autoOpenShareScreen=0"></embed></object>.

  18. Is there any way I can keep my slideshow private and show it to my friends only?

    Yes, there is ability for keeping and sharing your presentations privately.
    Just generate a url code by checking "Give me a secret url" and press "Save" button. Then copy it and send it to your friend.

    (Please check if the "I want my presentation to be available to anyone online" option is not ticked. If it is, secret URL code creation will be disabled, and your presentation will be public.)

  19. What is the Blog Sidebar Widget for?

    The Slideboom Blog Sidebar Widget is for displaying any public presentation right in your own blog. Just copy the link and embed a customizable Widget, which you can adjust with various colors and presentation display settings.

    Converting Presentations

  20. Does SlideBoom support animations effects and transitions in converted presentations?

    SlideBoom supports almost all animations effects and transitions that PowerPoint offers up to version 2007.

  21. Does SlideBoom support embedded sounds?

    SlideBoom does support embedded sounds and animation/transition sounds.

  22. Does SlideBoom correctly convert embedded fonts in presentations?

    Yep!

  23. Does SlideBoom support password-protected (encrypted) presentations and slideshows?

    SlideBoom does not convert password-protected presentations. Please remove password protection before uploading your presentation to SlideBoom.

  24. Can I use the keyboard to control presentation playback?

    Yes, you can use your keyboard to control the slides. Use Space key to play or pause the presentation, and use the left and right arrow keys to go to the previous or next slide.

    Common Problems

  25. I cannot upload my presentation through SlideBoom's web site. Am I doing something wrong?

    Please check the following:

    • Is your presentation a PowerPoint 2000, XP, 2003, 2007 or 2010 .ppt, .pptx, .pps or .ppsx file? SlideBoom doesn't work with older or newer versions. (See #3)
    • Is your presentation 100 megs or less? If your presentation is over 100 megs, you can't upload it unless you use a free add-in. (See #3 and #6)
    • Is your presentation password-protected? SlideBoom can't convert password-protected files. (See #24)
    • Does your presentation have video embedded in it? Use the free add-in to include embedded video. (See #7)
