Ms. Gonzalez’s Lesson Plans
Subject: Holidays (Halloween) Grades: Pre kindergarten -- 1st grade Objective: Since these students are still considered to be “babies” I will send out a paper asking permission from the Parents/Guardians to allow me to teach (rated G) facts about Halloween to the students. Once I get permission, I will also make the students participate. Not only will they learn a few facts about Halloween but also have fun while participating. This will only be taught for the month of October.
Materials:
Steps: Collect permission forms Teach the students little by little the ways of Halloween and how it all began. Show some of the DVDs “The Worst Witch” shows for recess time Send out papers/invitations for parents who would like to participate with their child in the up-coming Halloween party where we will have games, competition, and food! The parents will have to come in with food at hand! There is a catch! They must bring their home made food! (the more creative, the better!) That will earn them more points for the final count. Games will be the usual party games. Competition will be as follow: We’ll watch a movie (“Hocus Pocus” or “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”) and I will ask the students questions regarding the movie. Parents may help, but will not speak, this is a communication and remembering technique. After the movie, and tallying up the points, I will announce the five top 1st place students, the next four 2nd place, and three 3rd place winners, and the ones who didn’t win, I will give them treats for their efforts. To lighten up the tense (if there is any) we will dance, sing, and end the day (or night) with students exchanging gifts, food, and/or candies to their friends.
Have a safe & fun Halloween! Hope you had fun and a Happy Halloween to all!
