Who Makes It Brand Relationships between tire manufacturers.
There are many more tire brands than manufacturers. Manufacturers have bought out other manufacturers and consolidated production for cost savings. Brands are positioned for particular price points and market segments.
Bridgestone Tire also owns the Firestone, Fuzion, Dayton and other brands. Bridgestone =Premium Firestone = Value Fuzion = Value Performance Dayton = Economy.
Michelin owns the Michelin, BF Goodrich, Uniroyal, Riken, and Cavalier brands. Michelin = Premium BFGoodrich= Performance Uniroyal = Value Riken = Value Performance Cavalier = Economy
Goodyear owns the Goodyear, Dunlop, Fierce and Republic lines. Goodyear = Premium Dunlop = Performance/Value Fierce = Value Performance Republic = Economy
Cooper Tire also owns the Mastercraft brand. Cooper Tire = Premium/Value Mastercraft = Value
Manufacturers share costs by building more than one brand when possible. Offering different products at different price points helps profitability to be reinvested in marketing and research and development while reaching the broadest possible market for their products.
