Academy Range
Experience in schools has suggested that there is a relationship of student academic results to the educational environment in which they learn, actually showing a dramatic improvement when in pleasant surroundings allied to better facilities. The government have understood this and as a consequence are radically reforming and improving education facilities, the management at Paul Frewer Consulting have paid considerable attention to these findings and listened to the needs of teacher and student alike. As a result considerable investment has been made within the company to give the students and teachers what they need....... to enhance the learning experience Understanding the issues Curved wall and tiered classroom desking at Lambeth Academy 2
For many years furniture fitted in new and refurbished schools has looked very much the same design regardless of the manufacturer. Paul Frewer Consulting are supplying furniture that is design driven, to be adaptable to suit the requirement. Our Company can produce furniture to a traditional design such as the finished example, which is pictured on the right. Alternatively our Modular System can be utilised as shown in the laboratory below at Walsall Academy. Traditional look or ‘designer’ factor - a choice... A typical traditional laboratory design 3
Our furniture has been designed to give a coordinated theme throughout the school, it is intended to deliver that ‘Wow’ factor that has been lacking for so long in the education sector - why should good design be excluded from the educational environment? Designed to coordinate and compliment 4
The design of our fitted Modular System furniture has enormous advantages over traditionally manufactured furniture as it allows a vast range of different and individual designs to be used for the modern educational environment. On the left is a variation of this design with an etched glass surface as fitted at Lambeth Academy. Wherever the location.... Pictured on the right is a fitted ICT suite at Stonyhurst College, Lancashire, note the use of glass combined with the stylish rail design. 5
Traditionally, benching, both perimeter and free standing, has been a mixture of cantilever and 4 leg designs made from steel in a multitude of colours and finishes. In most cases standard sizes on a ‘this is all there is’ basis. Our Modular System changes all that, being designed from the outset to encompass the entire curriculum. Corrosion resistant anodised aluminium legs and rails Lock together die-cast connections for superior strength Infinite number of shapes and configurations Style coordination throughout the school curriculum Vertical and horizontal cable management system Tower hanger modules with in built security Modesty panels and desk screening A full range of suspended storage One of the most versatile benching systems ever designed.... 6
A room designers dream Our Modular System derives its name from the hub on which the system is based. The central hub features 24 taper slots set at 15º increments, into these slots are fitted the rail-ends. Using this system an almost infinite variety of frame shapes can be designed, which, when allied to the many different work surfaces and shapes that can be produced, result in a system that is an architects and designers dream; a furniture system that can go anywhere and support any type of work surface desired. 7
For many years the classroom and school dining areas, depended on the simple table with its spidery, flimsy legs. Lacking style and strength and usually with black square section metal legs that easily bend. Belvedere is the solution.... The softly curved shoulders and in vogue ‘aluminium’ finish ensures that steelwork matches the anodised aluminium of our other products whilst the 50mm diameter crush-bent legs give a strength unsurpassed by any other table. 50mm diameter crush bent legs Sturdy construction Large number of shapes and configurations Suitable for all school room applications Cable management system Tower hanger modules Modesty panels and desk screening Height adjustable feature available Available as a stacking table Belvedere… Simple and Versatile 8

Axiom stools are available in a variety of heights and options; the standard supplied has a seat of integral skin polyurethane with a silver epoxy coated steel frame, the alternative seat is a formed beech ply finished with a clear lacquer. Chrome legs are also available as an upgrade alternative to the silver finish. Axiom stools Research has shown, that as a result of long periods spent in a seated position by incorrect seating methods both circulation and muscle fatigue are adversely affected. These are amongst the main causes of absenteeism and long-term effects from adolescence to adulthood so correct posture is therefore paramount. To address this problem extensive research has been undertaken, resulting in this radical new convex seat design. By working with the body’s biomechanics to support the natural forward tilt of the pelvis, which in turn enables the spine to maintain its alignment for a healthier posture, a substantial improvement in lower back comfort is attained. Further enhancement of the comfort factor is provided by the seat manufacture; the use of Integral Skin Polyurethane allied to the gently curving surface helps distribute the loading evenly thus avoiding undue pressure. This unique range of seating now has four heights of stool, two heights of classroom chair and a height adjustable task chair all with the range title name of Axiom. Axiom stools, a range of ergonomic seating 10
....educating the way we sit Following on the tremendous success of the Axiom stool these two chairs were designed with the same principles firmly in mind. Intended to encourage a correct back posture the seat and back are manufactured from either integral skin polyurethane (available in 4 standard colours; dark grey, blue, red and green) or alternatively with a fabric covering in a range of colours from the Mainline Plus or Extreme ranges from the Camira ranges of class 5 fabrics. The task chair has a push button operated height adjustment feature unique to this design. This chair may be fitted with braked castors that operate when the chair is sat upon.
