Seasons of the World: Spring
Spring is the transition period between winter and summer.
Spring is one of the four temperate seasons* *Some parts of the world consider rains / monsoon as a fifth season.
Its days are close to twelve hours long with increasing day length.
In the Northern Hemisphere, spring runs from March into May, ….
… and in the Southern Hemisphere it runs from September into November.
Spring is also the tropical cyclone season in both hemispheres.
The phenological definition of spring relates to the blossoming of a range of plant species.
It varies according to the climate and the specific weather of a particular year.
Many flowering plants bloom this time of year such as magnolias, crocus, …
… quince, cherry blossom, dahlia, etc.
Spring signifies the concepts of growth and renewal of new life.
Thus, spring is often used as a metaphor for the start of better times.
The festivals of May Day and Easter are celebrated in spring.
