Reasons for Choice Although many see large Architecture firms as a bad thing I believe that it is the sign of a successful Architect and I admire successful Architects. Grimshaw is always working towards green and sustainable design and living such as his EVA design tool to empower his staff in their design. He has worked on many ethical projects such as the Eden Project in Cornwall. His Architecture is always modern and forward thinking but yet always answers the brief set out by his clients.

Grimshaw & Partners Nicholas Grimshaw started out as an individual and has now expanded into a multinational company. They have an excellent attitude when it comes to Architecture and their working style is informal yet engaging and fulfilling. They now employ 160 staff worldwide in London, New York and Melbourne

Successful Buildings Grimshaw has created many great buildings in partnership and independently. Every project he works on is always extremely individual fitting to the needs of its client. He is not afraid to work on any project whether that be industrial, restoration or new build. I also admire his diversity when it comes to large and smaller scale Architecture and his interest in sustainable design as well as his creative solutions to design processes. The following examples are just a short selection of some of Grimshaw's best designs however there are many more great examples.

Creation of EVA, a tool allowing the Architects to assess the environmental impact of their designs before construction. They are also the founding member of the Green Building Council (UKGBC).

Eden Project: The CORE This is the fourth phase of the Eden project it provides the site with added exhibition space and children’s educational areas. Local materials were highly used in this design and the the structure is designed to mimic the geometric forms of plant growth whilst also providing the best sun light and ventilation. The Aerogenerator: This conceptual design in partnership with Windpower Limited proposes a vertical axis wind turbine for offshore use. It would create three times more power than existing offshore turbines and would have a life span of 35-40 years. Currently undergoing testing. Figure 18 Figure 19

Eco Rainforest: The design idea is to create an artificial rainforest by using the decomposition of domestic waste to heat the site when needed. The shape is the ideal design for creating a hot and humid surrounding. Water Theatre at Las Palmas: This design is highly conceptual as are the previous two, The idea is to have a vertical Seawater greenhouse that would create Fresh water from the sea done by exploiting the geological benefits of this particular area. Conclusion In conclusion I have to say to begin with that I do not admire individuals or any single individual rather I like and are inspired by various people and Architects. However I looked at the people who influenced me as a child to choose Architecture as my dream profession and thought deeply about who I believe now is most valuable to the Architectural world and I think that with his green and Sustainable forward thinking he is a crucially important and admirable Architect. I also do not believe that large or multi national practices are a negative sign of a good Architect and actually a think it creates a bigger boiling pot of creativity for design as many people work in collaboration with each other to ensure perfection. I also find the attitude of his design practices intriguing in their informal style that as a result makes everyone feel a part of something larger.
