The two essential strands of BUILD:- 1. Maintaining the premises 2. Changing and enhancing the premises

Maintaining the premises What we have been up to: New fire doors have been installed Started to up-grade existing doors with door closers and door stops along the protected 30 minute fire escape route. Fixed electrical and asbestos surveys have been undertaken in the Sports shop and Warehouse. All the necessary remedial works have been completed

Maintaining the premises Work to be done in the near future:- Continue with improving the doors to provide 30 minutes fire resistance The new fire proof shutter has been ordered and will be fitted shortly

Storage 2010 We will be consulting with users, in particular the flower arrangers, with regard to the large walk-in store

Changing the premises What we have been up to:- Both the Project Board and the Development Team have met once to discuss all aspects of the project The Project Board next meet on Monday 25 January

Changing the premises The Development Team has been finalising the proposals with Clifford Patten, our architect. Clifford and Jane have met a Planning Officer at Southend Borough Council

Changing the premises Although the work proposed seems big to us from a planning perspective it is regarded as ‘minor’. In principle the Council has no objections to our proposals

Changing the premises Clifford and Jane attended the last Leadership meeting and presented the plans for consultation. We have arranged to meet Pre-school.

Changing the Premises We plan to consult with church members and friends after the morning service on the following Sundays 7, 21 & 28 February.

Changing the premises Our Quantity Surveyor, Hoggarth Cooke, has been instructed to provide an initial cost budget Alderson Dean has been appointed as our CDM Consultant

Changing the premises Funding raised Gifts received £83,942 Event Fundraising £1,464 Total £85,406 Gifts pledged £ 178,213 Grand Total £ 263,619

Changing the Premises What’s next? Consulting everyone! We are aiming to apply for Planning Consent at the end of March At the next Church meeting you will be invited to vote on this action.

Changing the premises The total cost for both maintaining and changing the premises is £900,000. Timescales: Maintenance is on-going and the aim is to start changing the premises in January 2011.
