Will Wonder Pitch

Treatment The film is situated around the goings on in William Wonder's hollow existence. Will is a 17 year old boy attending school where he is a nobody, however when he's out of school everything changes and his life turns into an absurd atrocity. The film is based around the events that occurred on the 15th of March 2034, A chase where the audience is led to believe that a murder has taken place, not knowing if Will was the killer or the victim. The storyline slowly suggest that Will is the killer but in the final moments the killer strikes again and Will is in fact innocent. The opening scene starts with Will on the floor in a field, confused, flashback to a chase sequence where it is unclear whether Will is the chaser or the victim, then the scene cuts to Will again, on the floor, he picks himself up, sparks a cigarette and then walks of.

Shots and Technicality The opening scene is of will wonder on the floor, the camera tracks in slowly and swerves around him breaking the 180 degree rule. The second shot is an extreme close up of his face which slowly tracks out The second scene is the sequence of the chase, high cutting rate as this helps build tension and panic, shots used in this chase are point of view, dutch angles and low angles, overhead shots and long shots. The third scene is back to will in the field, a medium shot from a high angle moving to a low angle as he gets up, then a close up of him lighting up a cigarette and then a still camera as he walks away.

Findings from Film analysis We looked at a number of films and opening sequences, all adding to our ideas and information upon the genre and technicality of the scenes. Whilst analysing the chase sequence in ‘Brick’ we gained a lot of information and ideas, mainly through the different shots such as the use of low angles and also the cutting rhythm, this chase sequence has given us great ideas for our chase sequence. The opening scene of ‘Donnie Darko’ shows a great tracking in shot of the boy and the way in which the 180 degree rule was broken, these aspects play a large part in our sequence as we have gained fantastic ideas from this clip. Where as ‘Amityville Horror’ is clearly of the horror genre it gave us great ideas of how expectations and tension is built up throughout a sequence of clips, this is done by sound and iconography.
