The Sun The surface of the sun is about 10,000 degrees f. It is estimated that the sun is four and a half thousand million years old. The sun is the closest star to the planet Earth.

Mercury One year on Mercury is equal to 87.9 Earth days. Any data colected during the planets daylight hours. Mercury has been the least studied planedet.

Venus Venus is the name of the great goddess of love. It is the second planet from the Sun. Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system with temperatures almost 500 degrees Celsius.

Earth Earth is the only planet with liquid water. Earth has 1 moon. The moons gravity effects the tides of the Ocean. Earth is estimated to be 4.5 million years old.

Mars The length of one year on Mars is 687 Earth days. Mars has 2 moons named Phobos and Deimos. Mars is known as the red planet because of the high iron content in the soil that has rusted.

Jupiter Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. The planet Jupiter has 4 very faint rings. We have sent space probes to Jupiter 7 times.
