The Solar System By lake
Sun The sun is estimated that it is four and a half thousand million years old. The sun was created by a cloud of particles being squeezed together. The sun is composed of 71%hydrogen,26.5% Helium.
Mercury The length of one day on Mercury is equal to 58 Earth days 1 year on Mercury is equal to 87.9 Earth days The average distance from the sun is 57.8 million miles.
Venus Venus is the name of the Greek goddess of love It is the second planet from the sun Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system with temperatures almost 500 degrees Celsius.
Earth Earth is the only planet in the solar system with liquid water. The moons gravity effects the tides of oceans. Earth is the only planet that has living beings on it .
Mars Mars has 2 moons named Phobos and Deimos. Mars has the largest volcano in the Solar System, Olympus Mons, which is 16.8 miles in diameter. The length of one day is 24.62 hours, so it is longer than an Earth day.
Jupiter Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System. Jupiter is so large that all the other planets in the Solar System can fit inside 2 times. Jupiter could have almost become a star, since its elements are similar to the sun’s; 90% hydrogen, and 10% helium.
Saturn Saturn has 33 moons. The length of one day on Saturn is equal to 11 hours on Earth. One year on Saturn is equal to 29.46 years on Earth.
Uranus Uranus is known as the sideways planet, because it’s axis is titled 98 degrees. Uranus has 11 rings mostly made of dust and rock. Uranus takes 84 years to orbit the sun
Neptune Neptune has several faint rings like the other gas giant planets. Neptune has at least 13 moons Neptune has a great dark spot, similar to the red spot on Jupiter. Wind speeds in the storm were clocked at 1,250 miles per hour.
Pluto Pluto was considered a planet for about 75 years, but in 2006 astronomers decided to make Pluto a dwarf planet. NASA has sent a space probe called New Horizons to visit the planet in 2015 . The average temperature on Pluto is -415 degrees F.
