Slide 2

The Sun The surface of the sun is about 10,000 degrees F. The sun is the closest star then the planet earth. It is estimated that the sun is four and a half thousand million years old.

Slide 3

Mercury Mercury has the biggest temperature variance of any of the planets with temperature reaching 467 degrees Celsius and low as -183 degrees Celsius. 1 year on mercury is equal to 87.9 earth days. Any data gathered about the planet has to be done during the day light hours.

Slide 4

Venus Venus rotates so slowly that it completes 1 year (224 earth days) before it completes 1 day (243 days). Venus is the name of the Greek goddess of love. It is the second planet from the sun.

Slide 5

Earth The earth orbits the sun at a speed of 67,000 miles per hour. The earth is the 3rd planet from the sun. Earth is the only planet that has living beings on it.

Slide 6

Mars The length of one year on mars is 687 earth days. The length of one day is 24.62 hours so it is longer than earth days. Mars has 2 moons named Phobos and Deimos.

Slide 7

Jupiter Jupiter has 63 moons most of them are small but it does have the largest moon in the solar system named Ganymede. The planet Jupiter has 4 vary faint rings. Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system

Slide 8

Saturn Saturn’s largest moon, Titan, is larger than the planet mercury. The average temperature on Saturn is -285 degrees f. Saturn has 33 moons.

Slide 9

Uranus Uranus takes 84 years to orbit the sun. The average temperature of Uranus is -322 degrees f. Uranus has at least 27 moons.

Slide 10

Neptune Neptune has at least 13 moons. One day on Neptune is equal to 16.11 hours. Neptune has several faint rings like the other gas giant planets.

Slide 11

Pluto Pluto is smaller than Earths moon. Pluto has 3 moons named Charon, Nix and Hydra. It takes 248 year for Pluto to orbit the sun.
