My book is about a sixth grader his name is Greg Heffley. It is his first day of sixth grade. He has two brothers. One older brother his name is Rodrick Heffley and the one younger brother his name is Manney Heffley. He did not have the best summer so he is kind of glad to come back to school. Until he found out were his assigned seat is. It is between two dorks. Sometimes its hard being a kid.

* Greg is not athletic * Greg is very creative. He draws whatever comes to his mind. * Greg is independent. He does things around the house like doing the dishes without being told.

Slide 4

Greg is not athletic. He has tried wrestling, football and swimming. He had hoped to get stronger and be good at something so he could be popular. He was not good at anything in sports.

Slide 5

Greg is very creative. He draws whatever comes to his mind. You can also get a very good career in drawing. You can go to college to be an artist or a sketch artist or whatever kind of artist you want to be. Greg gets straight A’s in art in school.

Slide 6

Greg is very independent. He does things around the house. Like doing the dishes without being told. His parents really appreciate that he does those things around the house without being told. But, they do not appreciate the fact that he is always fighting with his brothers.

Slide 7

This novel’s setting takes place in a grade school within walking distance from Greg’s home. It takes place in present time. The place is Greg’s everyday life in school and home.

Slide 8

The time takes place in present day. This is important because I can understand some of Greg’s problems and worries because it is how grade school can be here. It makes it easy to read and follow.

Slide 9

The novel takes place in a middle school and also at Greg’s home. It is important to know because it tells the reader that Greg has problems at both places.

Slide 10

Greg is picked on and treated badly by the popular group in school. At home, he is picked on by his older brother. But, Greg dreams of his future as someone famous, an important person. He is going to be somebody someday but the popular group and his brother will go nowhere in life.

Slide 11

The story begins with Greg at the end of a bad summer. He did not get to go anywhere for vacation like his friend. His mother wanted him to be outside more and not playing video games. He is glad to be back at school. Until he realizes that school can be bad too.

Slide 12

Greg tries to find ways to be more liked by the popular kids. He knows that he is not the most popular, athletic kid. He tries to fit in by finding something he can be good at. He begins to make cartoons. He decides that he could make this year in school the best year ever if he can make the Class Favorite page in the yearbook. He decides he could try for the class clown.

Slide 13

All the things that he tries never works out. It always turns out wrong. He almost loses his best friend over his wishes to fit in. By the end of the school year, he manages to make everyone mad at him. He had been sitting at the lunch table by himself. No one would partner up with him in phys. Ed. But Greg decided to act like himself again and became a loyal friend.

Slide 14

Everyone wants to fit in. Sometimes doing things that they would not usually do. When kids try to be something that they are not , it usually turns out bad.

Slide 15

Trying to be like someone you are not is hard. It never makes you happy. Learning that not being the most popular or the most athletic is still good enough.
