DECEMBER 2009 The Kyoto Protocol’s first term ends in 2012, and governments were supposed to agree to new terms in Copenhagen
117 countries endorsed the 350 ppm target in Copenhagen (including Laos as part of LDCs).
Yet they were not the 117 largest emitters.

Thoughts for Lao PDR Continue to make climate change a priority. Promote Lao PDR as a place to test and study climate adaptation. Integrate environmental education into the school curriculum. Use TV, Radio, and Newspapers to educate the public about climate change with accessible content Research community managed forestry plans
Thoughts for Lao PDR Create climate materials and curriculum for youth, women’s, and other unions Host “training-for-trainers” workshops to educate key community leaders Develop an interactive presentation on climate change impacts and solutions in Lao PDR Provide information to tourists about climate impacts and solutions Engage community leaders in discussions about REDD
