WHAT IS VITILOGI Vitiligo is a skin disease that causes white patches on skin The pigmentation of skin can occur on any part of the body The white spots occur due to lack of skin cells called melanocytes Affects 1 to 2% of the population More visible in people with darker skin complexion Non-contagious disease

The prime cause of vitiligo is the death of melanocytes, the skin cells. Melanin is the pigment produced by the melanocytes, which gives skin its original color. When melanocytes are, destroyed, skin tends to lose its original colour as a result, there is a formation of large and uneven patches on the skin.
