Contractions The word contract means to squeeze together and make smaller. A contraction is a word made of two words that are put together and then made shorter For example: can + not = can't and are + not = aren't The ' (apostrophe) takes the place of letters that are taken out of the word. In the contraction can't, the ' takes the place of the letters n and o. See: can not = can't This book is so good I can't stop reading it!

When 2 people see the same thing happening at the same time they will not necessarily have the same view? Depending on what kind of person they are - their character, eg kind, brave, enthusiastic, shy etc, their thoughts and feelings about what they saw would be different.. We call this seeing things from a different perspective.

Planning Planning gives you time to prepare your writing and think about the content. Your planning should show: Who is going to be in your writing – characters. What are their names, what do they look like, what are they like – personalities, any habits, likes or dislikes etc. Where it is going to take place – setting, Describe the location or building or room. What is going to happen – plot. Your writing needs a beginning, middle and end, the reader needs to know what is happening in each part of the story. You might also want to make a list of some good adjectives or metaphors that you will use in your writing.
