So…
What’s been going on in NOW?
Well…
… we’ve been…
Staff development on NOW using skills audits hosted in NOW and online materials to support changing practices with teaching (School of Social Sciences – Ann Liggett and MSC CPD programme team, School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment – Michelle Pepin and MSc in Project Management team)
Non-award bearing learning rooms for Learning and Teaching Co-ordinators Jon Tepper (School of Science and Technology) and Christine Hardy (School of Art and Design) ED Staff Development module for ‘real-life’ staff development work with both staff and students, e.g. MA RPT programme with Carol Jones and team
‘New Tools for Teaching and Learning’ – presentation at School Staff Development week, School of Art and Design… not only gives staff the chance to try a new tool, but shows them how something like Google Sites could be useful too.
Use of screencasts as a means to summarize and explain various activities / processes – created using free tools such as ScreenToaster and YouTube for their usability, the opportunity to demonstrate their use and ability to be disseminated more widely (i.e. doing more for less).
Lecture-based online assessments – School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment, Ana Souto and Guillermo Garma Montiel Formative MCQ for fashion and textile marketing – School of Art and Design, Julia Kininmonth Seminar replacement / directive learning – School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment, Adam O’Rourke
Working with PGCHE students on the ‘Create an eTool’ element of the second module including piloting the installation of the Peer Assessment tool, WebPA (Sue Walton, School of Art and Design), creation of formative MCQs in NOW (Julia Kininmonth, School of Art and Design), embedding online discussions (Tara Brassil, Nottingham Law School), use of online groups for collaborative working (Vince Conway, School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment)
Video feedback (School of Social Sciences – Phil Wane) – learning from others experiences
Use of a wiki for project tracking and a model of open collaborative working with colleagues / also used as a learning tool for staff as they can get a realistic picture of what’s involved in bringing together activities
Collection of eLearning Case Studies and dissemination via the eLearning Community Website
Use of traditional and non-traditional means of creating workflows and developing processses including animations to explain processes used on several of our activities, i.e. Jackie Hardy’s Grades’ tool process in the School of Social Sciences and Dropbox feedback process overview for the Postgraduate Programme Lead Away Day for the School of Art and Design (Carol Jones and team)
Improving feedback by using the grades tool to give a programme-wide view of the student journey (Jackie Hardy / Ann Liggett) Use of ePortfolio beyond just ‘this is how the tool works’ (LEAP2A project – interoperability and portability; also cloud computing – web 2.0) Use of learning rooms to support placement students (School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment etc)
Electronic submission using the dropbox to speed up and make visible submission processes (Carol Jones and programme team - MA RPT)
Creation of an evaluation toolkit to understand the use of tools across NTU and build an evidence-base for future practice and decision-making.

Who can really say? New approaches to learning and teaching Integration of new tools and release of other tools But, especially… Evidence-based practice and evaluation
Although we are guided by policy and the technological potential of our systems, the ideas we support and the practice which is generated is constantly evolving. We support innovation and enhance the quality and purposefulness of use… wherever that takes us.
