India Shining, India Dating The political advertising done by the BJP government during its hay days may have brought ultimately its downfall, but is sure has generated a lot of talk regarding India in the International media and created the now iconic term "India Shining". We are not here though to do a case study about the campaign nor discuss what part of India is shining actually. The topic of discussion though is the apparent relation between the rise of Indian economic prowess and the dating phenomena that has captured India. I think we can safely coin a new word for this, " India Dating". (Online Dating India ) There definitely seems to be a reason behind the rising per capita income and the per capita dates in India. Though, apparently it is restricted to the metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad. The tier-II cities are also fast catching up in this regard. We can expect that with rising income levels, an average Indian would have splurged it on movies, vacations, luxury goods, apparel or cosmetics. But who would have honestly expected that he would come out of his bubble, which was there right from his childhood and who was told that fraternizing with any woman other than his fiancé will be a crime? The picture of a shy young man is fast getting blurred into a confident umber cool metro man. Well, good for him i must say! (Dating India ) Dating has long been considered an unnecessary activity, a waste of time and money for the career minded Indian. The "India Dating" phenomenon is a direct consequence of this person leaving his inhibitions, of not caring for the regular social norms and going out to express his free will. He knows now that he is well off, has the time to spend comfortably on himself and still have some more to take care of his duty, tending to his family. Such economic freedom was the tool he needed and with India doing really well with 9% GDP growth, rise in IT investments and infrastructure growth, he definitely is getting a jack-hammer to drill a hole in the cocoon. The trend is just getting stronger and may take a couple of generations to mimic the west completely. But mind that however strong it gets “India dating" phenomena will largely adhere to our traditions and cultures. It will become an amalgamation of the good of both the systems. So while an Indian will go on a date, he cannot expect a one-night stand. The girl too will reciprocate with a free and no holds barred attitude, but she wont be too brazen to the Indian sensitivities, which in my opinion is the perfect mixture to expect in the future.
