BIG BEN & PALACE OF WESTMINSTER BUILT IN 1856. THE CLOCK HAS BECOME A SYMBOL OF THE UNITED KINGDOM AND LONDON. THE PALACE OF WESTMINSTER IS THE MEETING PLACE OF THE TWO HOUSES OF THE PARLIAMENT. IT WAS BUILT IN A GOTHIC STYLE.

THE TOWER OF LONDON BUILT IN 1078 BY WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR. IT WAS USED AS A PRISON FOR CENTURIES. MANY IMPORTANT PEOPLE WERE EXECUTED HERE. YOU CAN SEE THE CROWN JEWELS INSIDE. THE GHOST OF QUEEN ANNE BOLEYN HAUNTS THE WHITE TOWER CARRYING HER HEAD UNDER HER ARM.

TOWER BRIDGE ICONIC SYMBOL OF LONDON OVER THE RIVER THAMES. IT WAS OPENED ON 30 JUNE 1894. IT IS CLOSE TO THE TOWER OF LONDON, WHICH GIVES IT ITS NAME.THE BRIDGE'S PRESENT COLOUR DATES FROM 1977 WHEN IT WAS PAINTED FOR THE QUEEN'S SILVER JUBILEE.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE IT IS THE OFFICIAL LONDON RESIDENCE OF THE BRITISH MONARCH. BUILT IN 1705 BY THE DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM. THE QUEEN VICTORIA WAS THE FIRST MONARCH TO LIVE HERE. YOU CAN SEE THE CHANGING OF THE QUEEN'S GUARD EVERY DAY.

ST PAUL'S CATHEDRAL IT IS AN ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL AND THE SEAT OF THE BISHOP OF LONDON. THE PRESENT BUILDING DATES FROM THE 17TH CENTURY AND WAS DESIGNED BY SIR CHRISTOPHER WREN. ITS DOME IS AMONG THE HIGHEST IN THE WORLD AND WAS INSPIRED BY ST PETER'S BASILICA IN ROME.

WESTMINSTER ABBEY IT IS A LARGE GOTHIC CHURCH LOCATED NEXT TO THE PALACE OF WESTMINSTER. IT IS THE TRADICIONAL PLACE OF CORONATION AND BURIAL SITE FOR BRITISH MONARCHS. THERE IS A SECTION CALLED THE POET'S CORNER BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY POETS, WRITERS AND PLAYWRIGHTS BURIED AND COMMEMORATED THERE ( LORD BYRON, CHARLES DICKENS, JANE AUSTEN...)
