Three fisherman’s daughters were splashing and bathing in the sea

Only Eglė was still swimming

Slide 4

When Egle climbed onto the seashore she discovered a serpent in her blouse. The serpent agreed to go away only after Egle pledged herself to him in exchange

Father tricked the serpents and gave them a goose instead of his daughter

The cuckoo warned the serpents about the deceit in the forest

The father tried to trick the serpents once more – gave them a sheep

Enraged serpents returned the final time and took Egle with them

Under the sea Egle was invited into the palace of amber

There she met Žilvinas, a handsome human, the Serpent Prince. They fell in love with each other

They lived together happily and Egle gave birth to 4 children: Oak, Ash, Birch and Aspen. A few years later Egle decided to visit her homeland

In order to be allowed to visit home, Egle was required to fulfil three impossible tasks by Žilvinas:

- To bake a pie with no utensils

The old witch helped Egle to fulfil the tasks

On the seashore Eglė was waited by her 9 brothers

They didn’t wish them to let come back to the sea. So they threatened and frightened Aspen disclosed her father’s name

And killed him using scythes

Eglė turned her children into trees
