Users “subscribe” to your messages by following u. Your message now becomes a part of their TL. This is the essence of #Twitter. It’s not just tidbits of minutiae of ur life or day, but rather insight into ur thoughts & feelings. Tweets can be public or private.
Negative folks need not apply for #Twitter. Keep ur sour/dour/gloomy thoughts away. If ur glass is ½ empty, keep the drink 2 urself! Who should utilize #Twittter? Folks who want 2: listen, share, ask ?s, respond, promote, market, engage, inform, relay a humorous story.
Why use #Twitter? Share. Tell people what u r doing. Promote event or deadline. Explain process or procedure. Inspire. Motivate. Entertain. Share a funny quote. Find something that makes you feel good and you will surely have found something that makes another person feel good.

Lingo - Timeline is the accumulation of tweets that you read. #Hashtags help you organize tweets. Retweet is when you share someone else’s tweet.
Follow is what you do when you want someone’s tweets to show up in your TL. Mention is how you reply or talk with some1 publicly. A #DM or direct message is a private convo ~ similar to email ~ that occurs only between two twitterers.
