A Clear Conscience

Slide 2

The only thing that speaks to us when we are all alone is our Conscience. Conscience is a gift from God. A clear conscience is always a true friend of us who speaks the truth and shows the things, which are good. That may be my own views. But we need to know what the psychologists speak about or define conscience.

Slide 3

What is Conscience? The experts say - “A sense of right & wrong.” “Conscience is the capacity for moral judgment.” “An inerrant knowledge of the need to do what is right and avoid wrong.” Some advanced studies define conscience as, “Conscience is the faculty of the mind, or inborn sense of right and wrong, by which we judge of the moral character of human conduct.”

Slide 4

The Conscience is Active It never stays quiet It always active within us What does it do? How does it help us?

Slide 5

Multi-Active Conscience It is very important to know what this conscience does. God has given each one of us a conscience because of its multi facet functions, which are as follows:

Slide 6

It Strikes or Convicts Multi-Active Conscience When we do something wrong, our conscience strikes us, bothers us, troubles us (1 Sam. 24: 5; 2 Sam. 24:10). In john 8: 9 we find that conscience also convicts of our faults or what we did.

Slide 7

It Reproaches Multi-Active Conscience The conscience also reproaches, when we are at fault (Job. 27: 6)

Slide 8

It Confirms Multi-Active Conscience Our conscience confirms that we are telling the truth in the Holy Spirit (Rom. 9: 1). (the Truth in us)

Slide 9

It Testifies Multi-Active Conscience The conscience testifies that we have done the work in the holiness and sincerity that are from God (2 Cor. 1: 12). Rom. 2: 15 says that the conscience bears witness.

Slide 10

It gives the believer an Upper Hand Multi-Active Conscience The conscience puts the believer in an advantageous position or place (1 Pet. 3: 16). See also an example in Gen. 20:5, 6, where God testifies for the king Abimelech. The king Abimelech got an upper hand over Abraham and his wife because of his clear conscience (integrity of his heart).

Slide 11

We Need To Be Careful about our CONSCIENCE

Slide 12

Our Conscience can be affected negatively.

Slide 13

It can get polluted anytime in this gloomy world.

Slide 14

It can be corrupted with worldly desires.

Slide 15

Hence we need to clean it everyday and every moment.

Slide 16

Otherwise, it will stop talking to us, as a result of which we will be led to destruction and despair.

Slide 17

St. Paul says, in Acts 24:16 that, “I STRIVE always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.”

Slide 18

The great King David says in Ps. 51:10 that, “…CREATE in me a CLEAN HEART oh Lord!”

Slide 19

We need to STRIVE for a CLEAN & CLEAR CONSCIENCE

Slide 20

But, HOW???

Slide 21

By maintaining / holding fast to the RIGHTEOUSNESS (Job. 27:6) Striving for a clear conscience

Slide 22

By keeping FAITH / holding unto FAITH (1 Tim. 1:19 & 3: 9) FAITH Striving for a clear conscience

Slide 23

By the RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ (Heb. 10: 22 & 9: 14; 1 Pet. 3:21) Striving for a clear conscience

Slide 24

By the PRAYER of other believers (Heb. 13:18) Striving for a clear conscience
