RPMAC Background In 2004, INAC held four regional sessions with Economic development officers around the region. It was agreed that not enough time was available during these sessions for thorough advice from EDOs on various economic development topics. The Ontario Region committed to establish a working group to provide this advice with respect to Community Economic and Capacity Development Program and in 2004/2005 the Community Economic Advisory Team Ontario (CEATO) was established, it is now called RPMAC. RPMAC Mandate The RPMAC will provide community economic development advice on the department’s management and delivery of Economic and Capacity development support to First Nations in Ontario. The Ontario Region will seek advice on the Community Economic and Capacity Development Program, the Economic Development proposal-based programming, regional priority setting and other management issues. RPMAC Objective The main objective of this team is to provide advice, input and recommendations to the Ontario Region regarding all aspects of economic development programs with a focus on the Community Economic & Capacity Development Program. The intent is to maintain this partnership between Ontario region and the First Nation communities. Regional Program Management Advisory Committee

RPMAC Milestones To date, RPMAC Ontario has successfully accomplished many of its objectives and include: The revision of CEDP Operation Plan to a more user friendly and useful document for EDOs. Development of revised funding allocations, which provide 64 communities with an increase in funding. Developed a position paper on Horizontality Developed a Position paper on Communication which seeks to improve communication between INAC and First Nations. Milestones cont’ Implementation of the First Annual Economic Development Officer Conference. Implementation of Regional EDO Information Sessions. Led the establishment of the RPMAC Alliance, a group which is made up of the various regional RPMACs from across Canada. Developed the Career Guide for Economic Development Officers. Milestones cont’ Developed the RPMAC Alliance Position Paper on INAC’s Economic Framework. Successfully registered the Ontario First Nation Economic Developers Association. The team now includes a representative from Aboriginal Business Development Program. An annual performance review is done and as of Mar. 2009, 200 recommendations have been put forward to Ontario Region, and 161 or 80.5% of the recommendations were accepted and 3 or 1% were partially accepted. 2010/2011 Areas of Focus Other than the annual objectives, the following are the current undertaking of the RPMAC. Work closely with INAC Ottawa on the Engagement Sessions on INAC Framework for Ontario. Prepare a Position Paper on the Federal Procurement Strategy. Promote horizontality and partnership with other government agencies, for example, Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs, OPA, ASETS, formerly AHRDA, AWPI, Lands, other public and private sectors, etc. Regional Program Management Advisory Committee

Areas of Focus Con't Engage youth and seek their input on Community Economic Development initiatives. Support and promote OFNEDA. Evaluation of the RPMAC. Prepare a Position Paper and/or Recommendations for new INAC Programming. Regional Program Management Advisory Committee
