ABHP’s 2003 Vision and Mission Statement Vision Statement We believe in black pharmacists working in collaboration to establish a standard to excellence for healthcare that is equitable accessible, and culturally and ethnically appropriate to the black community. Mission Statement ABHP believes that its purpose is to encourage members to promote the proper use of medication in the black community. The mission of the ABHP is to promote advocacy, leadership, education, and collaboration that improve the health status and quality of life of black patients and to advance the practice of black pharmacists and serve as their collective voice on issues in the health system.

The Board of Directors (BOD): Key Responsibilities “Super Team” Enhance the association’s public standing Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability Recruit and orient new board members and assess board performance Determine the association’s mission and Purpose Hire and select Staff Assess staff performance Ensure effective organizational planning Ensure adequate resources Manage resources effectively Determine, monitor, and strengthen the association’s programs and services

The Immediate Past President: Key Responsibilities “Third String Quarterback” Presides in the absence of the President and President-Elect Assist in the preparation of the Association’s plans for success Provides guidance and serves as a resource to Officers and members Chairs the Nomination Committee Participates in and conducts officer training and orientation meetings Prepare written reports and proposals Assist in the preparation of BOD agenda Serves as liaison to councils and committees

The Treasurer Key Responsibilities “Finance Manager” Coordinates preparation of the annual budget Chair the Finance, Budget, Fundraising Committee Handle all financial transactions and functions Ensure and monitor dues and fees are collected /Pay bills Prepare and submit all Federal and State tax filings Assist and arrange preparation for annual audit of financial records Assure accurate records are kept Reconcile deposits expenditures and cash Prepare report for BOD and maintain records for audit Respond to inquiries Attend all association meetings KEEP THE ASSOCIATION FISCALLY SOUND AND FINANCIALLY STRONG!!!
