Soap Making Maman Katungu Kyarambi is a soap maker, working with her husband Kakule from their home in Butembo/ DRC. They started their soap-making business in March 2010 with their first loan of $50 from PMI. They then produced 2 boxes of soap per day to sell in their community. Savon Mileto (Mileto Soap) is what they named their product. In May 2010, two months later, they took a second loan for $100. In September they took their third loan for $200!

Where is Maman Today? Today the couple is planning to increase production even further. Their working on a business plan with the help of PMI loan officer and will apply for a $1,000 loan which will be used to purchase a mixer to and as to hire two employees from the community. In March of 2011 with an ever-growing demand for their high-quality soap, they decided to increase production by taking a fourth loan of $400 (Only 12 months after their first loan).
