Is Email Marketing Right For You?- Yes, And It Doesn’t Matter What Business!
It’s true, B2B or B2C companies can all benefit from email marketing. In fact, one of the reasons retail stores go out of business, is the lack of customer follow-up by email. (Note: This my personal opinion based on an informal survey I have been conducting over the last two years with local malls.)
Email marketing still has huge benefits. The marketplace today is highly competitive and using a great email campaign, will reap huge rewards. Still not convinced? The check this out:
♦ 72% of respondents believe their email marketing campaign ROI is “excellent” or really good.” (Econsultancy Survey, 2011) ♦ 70% of brand marketers plan to invest in email marketing in 2011 (2011 Digital Marketing Outlook Survey, Society of Digital Agencies)
5 Benefits of Email Marketing Benefit #1: Email campaigns can be targeted to your audience. This means a better lead generation response than can ever be had with a tweet.
Benefit #2: Email campaigns can be saved indefinitely by the receiver. Facebook updates, status updates, wall posts…they eventually disappear as new content arrives. An email in the inbox requires a decision…Delete? Keep? Save in a folder? Until the receiver takes action, your email is “live.”
Benefit #3: Email campaigns offer more space than 140 characters. Emails offer lots of space to create your message, perhaps add graphics, provide links, etc. Far more enticing than a tweet!
Benefit #4: Email campaigns can be tracked, tweaked and relaunched for greater effectiveness. Email ROI can be discerned through open rates, click through rates and other metrics. But ROI with social media? The jury is still out.
Benefit #5: Email campaigns offer deeper prospecting opportunities. When the message is targeted, analytics make it simple to drill down to specific individuals, not just mass audiences, who found your information to be of value. Then, it’s a matter of calling or emailing that individual to start the conversation. Voila! It’s a lead!
