David Bergen -- Successful CIO and CIO Advisory Experience

A progressive leader and an experienced CIO, David Bergen has developed core competencies of process improvement, portfolio and progam management, organizational development, IT Strategy, outsourcing management. He has served as the Senior Vice President/Global CIO of Levi Strauss & Co. from 2000 to 2008.

While holding this position, David was responsible for coordinating business and IT functions across 25 sites worldwide under the capital and operating budget of over $200M. He implemented retail platforms, global SAP and e-commerce capabilities and directed transition to standardized business processes.

He sustained 90 percent supply-chain fulfillment by improving supply and demand planning of Levi Strauss & Co., and implemented data warehousing and regional data marts. In addition to Levi Strauss & Co., David Bergen has also worked as the Senior Vice President/Global CIO at Duty Free Shoppers and led over 250 employees in 9 countries while leading business simplification effort.

Moreover, he has also worked with The Gap, Inc., San Francisco, CA as a Programmer Analyst, System Analyst and Program Manager, from 1981 to 1994 and spearheaded the implementation of high transaction IBM POS (Point of Sale) system worldwide. He produced retail solutions including inventory management, sale audit and price management systems.

While working as a System Engineer at Electronic Data Systems, San Francisco, he completed a software engineering training program and helped in the development of worldwide supply systems and logistic systems for APL. David Bergen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, NV and has attended specialized training in Program Management and Project Management.
