Liona’s Exploration Project By Liona Sadler
My Project This project is about explorers having motivation. It’s about why they wanted to go, where did they go and so on about explorers. It’s also about impact and technology. I hope you enjoy my project! :-)
Motivations are something that inspirers you to do something. For an example, an explorer’s motivations are to be the first to go somewhere, wealth, conquer and fame. Neil Armstrong was the first one to go to the moon. His motivation was to be the first to go somewhere and fame. Motivation
Explorer’s Motivations Wealth Fame Conquer Forced to go Knowledge First to go somewhere
Louis Joliet’s Motivation Louis Joliet’s motivation was to find new land. He explored in the areas of the Great River. There he found the Mississippi River. Every explorer has a motivation. Without motivation, there wouldn’t be all these great places that the explorers found. Did you know? Louis Joliet was a son of a wagon maker. He was famous for discovering the Mississippi river. His lifespan was 1645-1700
Technology Technology is something that everybody uses. Computers and other things. But in the early explorers they didn’t use any of that. The Phoenicians used the Phoenician star. Also known as the North Star. The North Star is always up in the sky and doesn’t move. That is why the early explorers always used the North Star.
Explorer’s Technology The reason why the explorers used technology was because they needed to communicate with technology and navigate where they were. The Cross Staff The Cross Staff was a technology that the early explorers used. The Cross Staff was used for measuring the distance between Polaris (the North Star) and the horizon. Technology was very important to the explorers. If they didn’t have technology they wouldn’t have known where they where going and how to communicate.
Technology for the Challenger Deep The technology that Don Walsh and Jaques Piccard used was the hydrophone/sonar for communication. Did you know? The only food that Don Walsh and Jaques Piccard ate was chocolate bars. Don Walsh and Jaques Piccard was the FIRST to go all the way down the Challenger Deep. The submarine was called the Bathyscaphe Trieste.
Impact Impact is when people change things. For an example, culture. Christopher Columbus changed the Native American’s culture. From this day forward, that culture is gone forever.
Impact of Christopher Columbus The impact of Christopher Columbus was when he attacked the Wampanoags and took their culture away forever. From this day on there are no more full Wampanoags and their culture. Did you know? Christopher Columbus attacked the Wampanoags in 1492. When the Wampanoags found Christopher Columbus came in their land, they greeted them as if they were friends.
The End I hope you enjoyed my project and learned more about explorers!
