Chapter 1 Words are everywhere. They describe the world to her. Conversation is like air. She consumes words, and can’t live without them.

Slide 2

Chapter 2 Melody introduces herself. She loves music. It translates to color for her. She’s a gift from God. Melody let’s us know that she recognizes her limitations but she is still a girl with a name, likes, and dislikes. And she wants to be treated and held like any one else.

Slide 3

Chapter 3 Melody recalls how she spends time with her father. He showers her with words and love. She is the sunshine of his life.

Slide 4

Chapter 3 Melody describes her photographic memory; remembering every word of every tv show, book, experience, and conversation she’s ever had. Her life is like a slideshow.

Slide 5

Chapter 3 Break downs in communication result in Melody having what she calls “tornado explosions.” She’s so upset at her inability to express, that the eruption of emotion as she kicks and screams, is all she can muster. And when Melody blows, it hits like a Hurricane.

Slide 6

Chapter 4 Doctors always misunderstand Melody. They try to downplay her intelligence as coincidence, and they are totally confined by their medical definitions and the need to classify a condition. They are a joke to her, because they seem to try to figure her out like a puzzle. They see her condition, and see a hopeless situation. But Melody is not hopeless; just misunderstood.
