Child abuse and neglect are part of the everyday reality of working with and for children. You are in a unique position to help those children, their families, and the community. Usually you are the only other person outside immediate family members who sees a child on an on-going basis.
A person required to report child abuse or neglect is one who has reasonable cause to know or suspect that a child has been abused or neglected or who has observed the child being subjected to circumstances or conditions that would reasonably result in abuse or neglect You are required by law to report suspected abuse!
To protect the child and stop the abuse To get help for the family Help the family understand the seriousness of the problem Immune from any liability, civil or criminal, or termination of employment
