HLA-DR7 NEPHROTIC SYNDROME (steroid induced) Note: The common side effects of steroids are : hypertension, hypergylcemia, cushing features, hepatomegaly, osteoporosis, myopathay and cataracts. Hypertension, hyperglycemia and hepatomegaly are seen within the first 4 weeks of 2mg/kg of steroids in Nephrotic syndrome. Osteoporosis, cataracts and myopathy appear later. Screening for these is required if a child is a steroid dependent or a frequently relpasing nephrotic syndrome.
