Science Test questions require you to understand, interpret, or apply information that is provided on the test or that is learned through life experience. The information may be a paragraph, chart, table, graph, map or figure. Social Studies Test questions are based on written and visual texts drawn from a variety of sources, including academic and workplace texts, as well as primary and secondary sources. The information provided ay be one or more paragraphs, a chart, table, graph, map, photograph, cartoon, or figure. You must understand, apply, analyze, or evaluate the information provided.

Language Arts, Reading Test questions measure your ability to comprehend and interpret workplace and academic reading selections and to apply those interpretations to new contexts. You must understand, apply, analyze, and synthesize information that you are given in the reading selections. Reading selections range from 200 – 400 words with poetry running from 8 to 25 lines.

Language Arts, Writing The Language Arts, Writing test is divided into 2 parts. The scores earned on both parts are combined and reported as a single score. Part I Test questions require you to revise and edit workplace, “how to”, and informational documents. Part II Assesses your ability to write an essay about a familiar topic.

Language Arts, Writing Part II Time limit 45 minutes Write to an essay topic that will require you to present your opinion or explain your views about the assigned topic. The essay is scored considering the following features: Well-focused main points Clear organization Specific development of your ideas Control of sentence structure, punctuation, grammar, word choice and spelling

Mathematics The Mathematics test is divided into two equally weighted parts, each containing 25 questions. A math formulas page is provided for your reference during the test. Part I You may use the Casio fx-260 calculator provided by the official GED Testing Center. Part II Estimation and mental math skills are evaluated – no calculator is allowed.

Qualifying for Official GED Tests Complete lesson plan in each subject area Post test in each area with an 80% or better Two official GED practice test scores of 500 or better in each area. Complete 40 hours of instruction and post TABE before final GED test.

GED Testing Official GED testing is scheduled approximately 2 times each month There is a one time registration fee of $20 and each test is $12. ($80 total) Scheduled registration times. Allow 1 hour for first time sign up. Must present original social security card and government issued photo ID with birth date at sign up as well as on the testing date.
