Some of the Peace Corps’ programs include Youth Development, Community Development, and TEFL. The TEFL Program: Teaching English as a Foreign Language Peace Corps Volunteers are assigned to a country for three months of training and two years of service.
Why I joined the Peace Corps I joined the Peace Corps for many reasons. I enjoy working in foreign countries. I believe education is very important and every person deserves to receive a meaningful education. After the Peace Corps I would like to work for an NGO (nongovernmental organization) that does work providing funding for education and education related programs in less developed countries. I believe that before doing this kind of work it is important that I have experience teaching and conducting projects related to education in a country other than the United States.
