Full Body Scanner Backscatter X-Ray and Millimeter Wave Screening Body scanners produce detailed, three-dimensional images of individuals, and are used primarily to identify hidden weapons which would normally not be seen. All major Australian airports have now installed Full Body Scanners.

Processing – Stage 1 Loose items Mobile Phones Coins Keys Wallets To be placed in plastic trays.

Processing – Stage 2 Loose items are scanned. Xray image interpreted

Processing – Stage 3 Person passes through the walkthrough metal detector. If alarm activates then repeat Stages 2 & 3.

Processing – Stage 4 If walkthrough alarm activates again then: Conduct a search with the hand held metal detector.
