Protein The best time and type to take!

Slide 2

Best Time #1: Waking Up Best Type: Whey Protein Isolate Going a full night in dreamland will leave you needing some protein when you wake. You should consume some protein when first awake because your body has been in a catabolic state from the nights rest. Using a Whey Protein Isolate at this time will work great as it is a fast digesting protein. You want the fast digestion because you have gone many hours while sleeping without protein.

Best Time #2: Post-Workout Best Type: Whey   Another one of the best time to take protein is after your workout. If you're looking to supplement your protein right after your workout you want to get one kind of protein and one kind only. Whey protein digests in as little as 30 minutes and allows you to take full advantage of the two-hour "anabolic window" post-workout.  Why waste a great workout and not get the proper nutrition needed to refuel after your workout. Proper nutrition after your workout is crucial to recovery and to making gains.

Best Time #3: Pre-Bedtime Protein  Best Type: CASEIN Many people do not realize that nighttime is where results are created. This is the time where your muscles repair from the workout of the day. Without proper recovery, you can forget about results.  Although night time is a great time for your muscles to recover, it can also bring about catabolism (the non-growth of muscles). We don't want to use whey here because whey is a fast digesting protein.  A casein protein digest slower than the whey supplement. So taking it before bed will allow itself to digest throughout the night, minimizing the chances of a catabolic state.

Other Proteins There are other proteins available so finding the best protein to take may come down to such things as taste, cost, mixability. Such proteins as egg protein also have their place and can be used if you choose. For women, soy is often a popular choice because of the possible estogen benefits.
