Selecting Categories Selecting a browse category for your book is a lot like deciding where your book should be shelved in a library. When customers browse through the Amazon Kindle Store for books that might interest them, they are presented with genres and subgenres. By selecting browse categories, you decide which genres feature your book. When creating a new title in KDP, you may choose up to 2 categories for your book. To help determine which categories best fit your book, you may consider searching for other titles in the Amazon catalog that are similar to yours. You can then find the browse categories that are assigned to those titles by scrolling down the book’s detail page to the “Look for Similar Items by Category” section located at the bottom of the page.

Using Amazon Tags A powerful way to capitalize on keyword searches is to enter important keywords into Amazon's "Tag" feature. Tags are keywords that customers have associated with products to help them and other shoppers find items related to that keyword. And the simplest way to get great keyword for the Tag section is to search other titles on amazon. To add tags for your book log on to amazon, scroll down your book page on Amazon to find the "Tags Customers Associate with this Product" section, then click on the small "Tag this Product" button to open a pop-up window where you can add tags. Click the "Save Tags" button when you are finished adding your tags.

Slide 11

More Ideas On Using Tags You can add up to 15 tags per product. If you really need more than that, ask a colleague to enter some for you. As you enter these tags, a drop down box will appear that actually shows you the different tags and how often they have been used. For example the tag "memoir" has been used for over 4300 products. Perhaps you've written a memoir and tagged it as such. You are now in the pile with all of the other 4300 products. Tough to get visibility this way - or is it? So use tags will lesser usage. If you become the top dog in several lesser used tags, you’ll probably do better and your sales will greatly increase
