Internship Process
How We Got the Internship Essay application Send in Resume Interview with Dr. Hathcote
Before Starting the Internship Had a meeting with Dr. Sweaney and other students. Met some of the Representatives and had a Q&A with them. Got paired up with respective Representatives
Orientation 3 day orientation at the capital Met other interns from colleges around the state Took a tour of the capital and learned what our job responsibilities were Received our badges and name tags to gain access to the capital
Privileges Full access to the capital and restricted public areas Access to session floor Work and interact with some of GA’s influential political leaders. Learn about bills before public does FREE FOOD!!
What Does A Legislative Aide do?
Clerical tasks Answering phones Talking to constituents Scheduling calendar Taking messages Greeting the public(lobbyist, visitors, other legislators,etc.) Coordinating committee meetings Planning caucus breakfasts Running errands
Legislative work Research bill topics, interests and impact Research information for bill Prepare bill
