Spain The flag of Spain features three horizontal bands (top and bottom) with a yellow band in the middle. An urban legend holds that the colors of the flag of Spain derive from the bullfight arena - with the red representing the bullfighter´s blood and the yellow the sand of the arena - but this has no basis in fact. The colors of the flag of Spain were chosen as they were the colors of King Ferdinand´s own coat of arms.

Republic of South Africa The current national flag of the Republic of South Africa is made up of 6 colors: Chili red-hardiness, bravery, strength & valour and for bloodshed National flag white-peace and honesty and the people of European origin Spectrum green-hope, joy and love and for the land National flag blue-Determination and the black population Blue black- vigilance, truth and loyalty, perseverance & justice and the open blue skies Gold yellow-a symbol of generosity and for the natural resources i.e. gold

Ireland The green color on the flag represents the native people of Ireland (most of whom are Roman Catholic). The orange color represents the British supporters of William of Orange who settled in Northern Ireland in the 17th century (most of whom are Protestant). The white in the center of the flag represents peace between these two groups of people.

America The national flag of the United States of America, consists of thirteen equal horizontal stripes of red alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in the canton (referred to specifically as the "union") bearing fifty small, white, stars .The 50 stars represent the number of states and the 13 stripes represent the thirteen British colonies that declared independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain and became the first states in the Union. The colors of the flag have meaning as well: • Red symbolizes Hardiness and Valor. • White symbolizes Purity and Innocence. • Blue represents Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice. The stripes represent the 13 original colonies. The 50 stars represent the number of states.

India India's flag is a tricolor standard, with bands of saffron, white, and dark green.  The saffron represents courage, sacrifice, patriotism, and renunciation. It is also the color of the Hindu people. The green stands for faith, fertility and the land; it is the color of the Islam religion. The white is in the center, symoblizing the hope for unity and peace.

France   The blue color: The blue color is associated with caring for the destitute by the affluent. This association arises from the incident wherein a rich Roman soldier cut his blue coat into half and gave it to a poor man to protect himself from the freezing cold. The soldier later had a dream that Jesus Christ was wearing his blue coat. He dedicated his life to the service of the church and is known as Saint Martin or Martin of Tours. The white color: The white color stands for peace and honesty and for royalty and nobility The red color: The red color is associated with Saint Denis, the patron saint of France, who was beheaded by the pagan priests for his preachings. The Oriflamme banner that was used as a battle standard for the French royalty had a red background. The red color is symbolic of the legend that the banner was dipped in Saint Denis' blood. Hence, red stands for valor and strength.

Germany The colors of the German flag are associated with the republican democracy formed after World War II, and represent German unity and freedom: not only the freedom of Germany, but also the personal freedom of the German people.According to Ancient and Heraldic traditions much symbolism is associated with colors. The colors on the German flag represent the following: Yellow - a symbol of generosity Red - hardiness, bravery, strength and valour Black - Determination

Greece The color blue represents the sea which is so important to Greece and such a major portion of its economy. The white represents the waves on the ocean. Blue has also always been a color of protection, seen in the blue eye amulets used to ward off evil, and white is seen as the color of purity.

Jamaica Yellow - a symbol of sunshine and natural resources Green - the land and hope for the future Black - the burdens borne by the people

England It is called the Union Flag because it symbolises the administrative union of the countries of the United Kingdom. It is made up up of the individual Flags of three of the Kingdom's countries all united under one Sovereign - the countries of 'England, of 'Scotland' and of 'Northern Ireland'.The colour of white represents peace and honesty. The red represents hardiness, bravery, strength and valour. And the blue symbolizes vigilance, truth and loyalty, perseverance and justice.
