Title Page and Abstract Develop a captivating title. Include your IVs and your DV in the title Title page includes title, author, institution, and running head Abstract is a 120 word summary of the research. Include a sentence or two from each main section of the paper
Introduction/Lit Review Introduction/Lit Review provides info on: What is the topic of the paper. What is the status of the current literature on the topic. A description of this literature - describing in detail the methods of related experiments. What still needs to be known and why (the problem). How the current study addresses the problem (the purpose). What are the hypotheses. How will the research impact theory and practice (significance)
Method Section Participants/subjects Materials Design Procedure
Results Section Descriptive Statistics Means & standard deviations for each IV and for IV groups together Include your graphs in this section Inferential Statistics Name the analysis Include your 3 F statements Include a “that is” statement saying what the result indicates.
Discussion Section Were your hypotheses confirmed? Discuss each of them How do these findings match with the 8 studies you discussed in the lit review? What were some strengths or weaknesses? What are some implications? What should happen next – what are some ideas for future research?
References & Appendices References should be complete and in APA style. Don’t forget the appendix! Don’t forget to label the appendix (e.g., Appendix A).
