About 21% of surveyed health care providers already have purchased computer-assisted coding systems; according to a report by research firm KLAS. The survey found that 33% of surveyed health care providers plan to purchase computer-assisted coding systems in 2012, 15% plan to purchase such systems in 2013 and 5% plan to buy such systems in 2014 or later. Seventeen percent of respondents said they were unsure when they would buy computer-assisted coding systems, and 9% said they have no plans to purchase such systems. Dr. Charu Chitalia – Director, Operations of Acroseas Global Solutions states that “the stated data is representative of the fact that there’s still some caution in the air with regards to the timely implementation of the ICD 10, but fails to project a ‘practice/specialty’ wise segregation.”
