In Poland and other countries Saint Valentine’s Day is celebrated on the14th of February. It is also called The Lovers’ Day. On this day lovers express their love by sending Valentine’s cards, giving flowers or small gifts with the symbols of heart and the figures of winged Cupid. The Valentine’s cards usually aren’t signed by the person who sends them.

On this day florist shops are full of people buying flowers. The most popular gifts are chocolates as well as valentine’s cards. The name of St. Valentine’s Day is associated with the person of Bishop Valentine who lived in Italy a long time ago. He helped the couple of young people who were in love. Thanks him they could get married. Since then he bacame the patron of lovers.
