Focus Group Ideas By Jennie Potts & Jessica Ribeiro
Jessie J – Who’s Laughing Now Overall idea (Portrayal of Lyrics) – A combination of scenes that would consist of actions that link to the lyrics. In this case, bullying and stereotyping. Location – Realistic setting that can involve the ‘happening’ of bullying. A school, work office, home setting etc. Style – In the original video of ‘Who’s Laughing Now’ movements and the ‘persona’ of all actresses/actors are over-exaggerated. Quite obtrusive behavior and movements. Why are we thinking of filming a video to fit this song? We (Starlet Records) are contemplating whether or not to film a video to fit this song as we feel we could create many scenes ‘actions’ that could portray a message regarding bullying and stereotyping and that with effects/editing it could be in doubt, quite effective.
Jason Mraz – I Won’t Give Up Overall Idea – Portraying in some sense, scenes and editing to perceive natural and beautiful scenes to compliment the song and it’s meaning. Location – Grand fields, beaches, shores, natural settings etc; Style – The ‘style’ of which we would like to portray in the making of this video is of a natural viewing. No over-exaggerated acting, editing, hues, and so on, as it’s a gentle, mellow song that should have scenes and ‘acting’ of which compliments it’s calm persona. Why are we thinking of filming a video to fit this song? We (group) were contemplating filming a video to fit this song as we feel that we could create an imaginative and beautiful image to view for approximate 3 minutes. A comfortable and enjoyable viewing.
Jessie J – Who You Are Overall Idea – A combination of shots that relate to the lyrics. Involving scenes of conflict and others of harmony. Location – Grand fields, Interior of home, Valleys, Lake boarders, Bathrooms, etc; Style – We were contemplating the style of which to interpret into this video as the lyrics and parts of the song of which were instrumental perceived different moods and atmospheres. So we decided to have a brainstorm and combine scenes of which consist of both harmony and conflict to create some sort of ‘moderation’ and balance out the video to match the lyrics. Why are we thinking of filming a video to fit this song? We were contemplating choosing this track to make a video to as this particular track from Jessie J is very meaningful and relates to a lot of our ‘youth’ today.
Chosen Song We finally settled on complimenting ‘Jessie J – Who You Are’ with a music video in our making. We chose this song because we feel that it has deep meaning to it to teenage girls today, speaking for the girls who feel insecure, un-worthy and so on. So we believe that making a music video to fit this song would be relatable therefore making the video understanding and a positive experience for the viewers. There is a video of which a discussion has taken place as too the making of the music video.
