Introduction Carrick On Suir has strong roots in the G.A.A Small town – 3 clubs Carrick's main tourist attractions – Castle, Ahenny High Crosses, hope to provide tourists with something different Enough Tourist Attractions in town to show of Carrick's proud tradition in G.A.A Business Side – Tourists can see the various businesses in town are well behind the local G.A.A clubs promoting business perhaps while also keeping their interests in the town.

Carrick Davins Founded in1922 Colours: Red and White Grounds: Davin Park Founded in 1922 the club were mostly associated with Gaelic Football in their early years . Borrowed jerseys from Grangemockler – Green and White. Early Nickname “The Red Devils” Early Thirties changed name to Carrick Davins after the Davin Brothers Honours: 9 Munster championships Note : No All Ireland Club Championship at the Time 2 Senior County Titles 11 South Titles

Maurice Davin (1842 – 1927 ) Born In Deerpark Carrick-on-Suir Farming Background Athletic Background, held world records in running, hurdling, jumping and weight throwing “best athlete in the world at that time” Fisherman ( Model of Boats he used can be seen in The Heritage Centre here in Carrick) 1st of November along with Michael Cusack formed the Gaelic Athletic Association. Became first President The Davin Stand in Croke Park is named after him The Davin Park here in town is named after both him and his brother. Died in 1927 and is buried in Churchtown Co. Waterford.

Tourist Attractions First All Ireland played in Deerpark, Carrick on Suir, between Tipperary and Galway – Represented by a Plaque DIRECTIONS Take the N24/Clonmel Road Plague is on the opposite Side of the Road to the Glanbia factory in Carrick on Suir.

Grangemockler Connection Bloody Sunday 1940 Tipperary v Dublin Colours worn by Tipperary were colours of County Champions which were Grangemockler at that time 14 civilians were killed including Michael Hogan (Tipperary Footballer) Hogan Stand in Semple Stadium And Croke Park named after him.

Burial Site Of Maurice Davin Churchtown Graveyard is on the R680 (back road from Carrick to Clonmel) Its tradition that the deceased are brought to their Eternal Reward by one last trip up the River Suir by means of boat. Note: The Graveyard is actually sign posted the entire route along the R608 beginning at the Carrick Beg side of the Dillon Bridge. Taxis are provided within the town at reasonable rates.
