Welcome! Thank you for coming to this presentation. Today I want to share some secrets with you…. Aren’t we fascinated by secrets? A secret is something that is concealed… something limited to persons who are “authorized” to use the information. The Prayer shawl does contain information that is hidden. Today you will become some of the select few that will become “authorized” to use the information that it contains! Just as God used the rainbow to help Noah understand the Covenant, and He used the stars to help Abraham understand His promises….We will see images or “visual cues” within the prayer shawl that will help us to understand spiritual truths. Not everyone has heard of a prayer shawl! Throughout history people have used various methods & tools to meditate on God. Several faiths use prayer beads, including Catholics who call them “rosaries’ and Muslims who use prayer beads called “tasbih”. These objects help the worshipper to think about God. The Jewish people have prayer shawls…a rectangular cloak that is worn for a religious purpose
The Jewish prayer shawl, called the Talith or “tallit” (tal eet) was commanded by God to the Jewish people. The Book of Numbers says, “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: Throughout the generations to come you must make tassels for the hems of your clothing and attach them with a blue cord. When you see the tassels, you will remember and obey all the commands of the Lord instead of following your own desires and defiling yourselves, as you are prone to do. The tassels will help you remember that you must obey all my commands and be holy to your God. “
There are no religious specifications for the prayer shawl itself and it can be made in a variety of sizes, materials (wool, silk or rayon) and decorated with a range of artistic patterns. The shawl is simply the garment that displays the divinely-ordained fringes …and is not sacred in itself.
All tallits have a band sewn on the top called the atarah which means crown! Because the tallit is rectangular, with identical fringes on each corner, the atarah indicates "this side up." Some are elaborately decorated with silver squares or fancy metallic embroidery and most have the blessing, that one says before donning the tallit, embroidered on it as well.
The Atarah is a reminder to us of the crown worn by the high priest in the Holy Temple. That crown was a fore-shadowing of Jesus as our High Priest. The book of James also speaks of our crown…. CLICK (allow audience to read James 1:12) The crown covers the head…. Which is the area of the brain and mind, thoughts, decisions, wisdom, imagination, understanding, emotions. God communicates through our mind…and satan battles with us in our mind. Did you know that the phrase “To persecute” actually means to wear down your mind and remove your strength? If the enemy can bombard you with thoughts that produce fear and anxiety, he can then remove your ability to fulfill the will of God in your life. But….Repentance is the process of changing our mind so we think the way the Lord thinks. When we turn and think like God, we turn on to a path that brings us abundant life. The crown of the prayer shawl reminds us of all these things.
The Torah commands the Jews to wear tzitzit or tassels at the corners of their garments as a reminder to perform His commandments at all times. The passage also instructs that the fringe should have a thread of blue. This blue strand is called the Shamash, which is Hebrew for “servant” and is a reference to Jesus Christ coming as a servant.
The blue cord was made with a very rare and expensive dye made from the Murex snail. This dye was special because it did not turn blue until it was exposed to sunlight. This is significant as we consider the verse found in Malachi 4:2 CLICK. At one point in history the shellfish began to disappear. So the tradition of the blue cord disappeared also. The special blue dye was “lost” for over 1,300 years! Then, in 1985 Murex snails were once again found, and production of the sacred dye was resumed. Some believe that the discovery of this dye signals that the long-awaited Messiah is coming soon! Blue symbolizes the sky, the Heavens, the Throne of God, the Word of God, and Divine revelation. It also symbolizes the Law and obedience - because the 10 Commandments were inscribed on a tablet of blue sapphire stone.
There is a complex procedure for tying the knots of the tzitzit and it is filled with religious and numerical significance. The 4 long tassels have 4 cords - one long and three short in each. The longer strand, the shammash, is the one used for the winding. This cord is wound into 7,8,11, & 13 coils - each separated by double knots. In gematria (assigning numerical value to the letters of the Hebrew alphabet) , tzitzit = 600. In addition there are 8 strands plus 5 knots. The total is 613 which, according tradition, is the exact number of commandments in the Torah. Just to look at them, therefore, is to remember all the commandments.. The numbers 7-8-11-13 have special meaning: 15 = yod-hay, the first two letters of God's name; 11= vav+hay, the third and fourth letters of God's name. So the first three windings "spell" God's holy name. Thirteen, the last set of windings, is equivalent in value to the word "echad" which means "one." Hence, all four windings can be interpreted to say, "God is one."
In the past the Tallit was made of either wool or linen. Today it is also made of silk or polyester – but the fibers must never be mixed.
Tallits are often adorned with gold and silver! Pure Gold throughout the scriptures speaks of divinity, that which cannot be reproduced by man. Gold also speaks of the deity of Jesus Christ. Silver is a symbol of redemption. Mark 10:45 says, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."
During the saying of the Shema (the most important prayer of the Jews which is recited twice daily) - all four corners of the Prayer Shawl are gathered and the tassels are wound around the fingers. Then they pray, "Hear, O Israel: the Lord is our God, the Lord is One." In the New Testament a group of Jews in the Temple in Jerusalem were asking Jesus if he was the Messiah. Jesus concludes his response with the words "I and my Father are one" This is a clear reference to the Shema, which the Jews immediately recognized. The shawl also speaks of the Temple & the four directions of the compass – each direction has symbolic meaning.
It would have been impossible for 6 million Jews to fit under one tent of meeting, so the men each had their own, under which they would sing their songs and pray.
In a centuries-old Jewish tradition Jews worldwide marked the return of the sun to what they believe is its original place in the heavens on the day it was created - an event that, according to Jewish tradition, occurs just once every 28 years. This year, the sun returned to its initial position on the first day of Passover; that is said by sages to have happened only 11 times in the last six thousand years. In the Bible 10 = Divine perfection and 12= Divine government…. But 11 = disorder, disorganization, imperfection, and disintegration. What an interesting time of history we live in, when an ancient Jewish tradition mirrors the events that are occurring today in the earth. I look forward to the next time the sun reaches this position on Passover…when God’s Divine government will rule over the earth!
Many of you may be familiar with this verse found in Matthew, but in biblical times they did not have "closets". In the orig. language it meant storage chamber - inner chamber - secret room. Each home had a secret store room....a place to put their valuables and provisions. It was also a place to hold meetings that must be secret. The concept of a prayer closet comes from placing the tallit over the head, to shut out all distractions and to create intimacy. The prayer closet is not physical - it is spiritual - and is built each day as it is practiced. A prayer closet is a storehouse that holds the wisdom of God…. A place where spiritual provisions are stored and kept for a time of need.
A prayer shawl, in a very real sense, is symbolic of us PUTTING ON the nature and the character of Jesus when we pray and intercede and speak in His name. We must PUT ON faith every single time we pray... otherwise our prayers are not REAL prayers... they are just wishful hopes that MAYBE God will work on our behalf.
The hen you see… is sheltering 16 chicks beneath her! -- And God will shelter anyone who will come to Him!
The tallit (prayer shawl) embraces us in our journey through life. Parents welcome their daughters into the covenant at birth by wrapping them in a specially made tallit (prayer shawl) when they are named. Used as a chuppah (Jewish bridal canopy), the tallit sanctifies the space under which a couple is married and symbolizes their future home.
CLICK - The Hebrew Greek Study Bible calls Joseph’s tallit a ‘multi-colored coat'. A tallit was a signet of the family they belonged to, and indicated the honor and esteem that they held in their family. Thus, Joseph's multi-colored tallit was dishonoring to his older brothers and reflected the great love Jacob had toward his young son. But this multi-colored prayer shawl was also prophetic!
In Jewish tradition Joseph's coat of many colors had 10 colors that represented the 10 Northern tribes of Israel that were taken away into captivity.
The prophet Elijah was said to be dressed in camel's hair with a leather belt around his waist. This camel's hair "mantle" was his tallit. It was unique in that goat's hair was typically the sign of a prophet, not camel's hair. Now when we think of goat’s hair & camel hair – we imagine a coarse garment, kind of rough & scratchy….but think of it this way - goat’s hair is actually cashmere! Garments made of cashmere were once only available to royalty. And camel’s hair produces even finer quality garments, that are luxuriously soft! The passing of Elijah's fine camel hair tallit to Elisha symbolized a transfer of his position, authority, and anointing. After Elijah gave it to Elisha, the sons of the other prophets of that day instantly understood that Elisha was the replacement of Elijah, and they treated him with respect.
During the time of Elijah, the king of Samaria sent his messengers to ask the pagan god, Baal, if he (the King) would recover from an injury. But God told Elijah to meet the messengers & prophecy to the king. When the messengers returned and gave the message, the king realized by the description of his clothes, that he was the Hebrew Prophet Elijah. As I have started to research the original meanings of certain words in the Bible, I have learned that Hebrew and Greek words often have multiple meanings. When people translate the Bible they usually try to choose the one meaning that fits the context the best. But I have discovered that ALL of the meanings of the word can be applied. This gives a much deeper and richer understanding of the verse. In the verse shown – look at the various meanings of the word “garment”… Can you see the prophetic “pictures” of Jesus in these words?
So camel’s hair symbolizes wealth, protection, prayer, and living the life of faith during trials.
Now look at a second description of Elijah. (read slide)
In Matthew 3:4 we find that John also wore a camel's hair talit. Some believe the Essenes had Elijah's tallit....and they gave it to John the Baptist. Jesus referred to this when He said "Elijah is come already, and they knew him not..." (Matthew 17:12). CLICK In this verse Camel hair is a Greek word that also has a prophetic meaning.
John’s wearing of the camel hair tallit for-shadowed the Second Coming of Messiah! It will be the fulfillment of the prophecy found here in Isaiah.
According to Acts 18:35, Paul was a “tent maker”. On the surface, this seems like a normal occupation, and is therefore skipped over. In fact, we even refer to someone who uses a secular job to support their ministry as being a "tent maker." But, the Jewish people didn't live in tents in the time of the book of Acts, they lived in houses. In fact, they hadn't lived in tents for many centuries. In ancient Greek, the words tent and tabernacle are the same word. Paul was a tabernacle maker. The tabernacles that the Jewish people used were tallits. CLICK So, Paul was a talit maker. As a Pharisee, this was a very honorable profession, and one that would bring him instant acceptance as he traveled on his missionary journeys.
After the encounter with this woman, Jesus proceeded to the home of Jarius. Jairus asked Jesus to come and heal his daughter. Jesus agreed to go to the girl, but as Jesus stopped and ministered to this woman…Jarius’ daughter had died.
When they arrived at the house Jesus looked the people weeping and wailing loudly. And when He had gone in, He said to them, Why do you make an uproar and weep? The little girl is not dead but is sleeping. And they laughed and jeered at Him. But He put them all out, and, taking the child's father and mother and those (disciples) who were with Him, He went in where the little girl was lying. ……..So we see a young woman lying on her deathbed, covered in a tallit… which symbolized that she was under the hand of the Almighty and subject to His tender mercies.
Her father was a synagogue official and understood the signifigance of the tallit…that God’s Word promised health and healing to all who adhered to His commandments and devoted their life to Him. “Gripping her by the hand, Jesus said to her, Talitha cumi-- And instantly the girl got up and started walking around.
After Pentecost, Peter and the disciples continued to minister at the temple. People began to bring the sick and lame on cots so that the mere shadow of the disciples would fall upon them and heal them. This was fulfillment of prophecies found in Psalms. Remember that “wings” speaks of the prayer shawl!
Did you know that God wears a tallit? …And since we are in God's image, we pay close attention to what God wears. Before putting on the tallit, a prayer is said, "Bless Adonai, my soul! Adonai my God, how great You are, clothed in majesty and glory, wrapped in light like a robe. You spread out the heavens like a tent."
White light is seen through a prism as the rainbow. It is the primal light of creation. The prayer shawl becomes a crown of white, symbolic of Wisdom and Understanding that flows into the Head from the Heavens. The rainbow has thus become in Jewish thought the symbol of both God's glory as manifest in the universe and God's faithfulness to His covenant to mankind and to the people of Israel. Each color of the rainbow has a meaning that is related to creation.
We see this rainbow again in the Book of Revelation, at the time of Christ’s return!.
The prayer shawl provides a point of contact for us today to understand further the glory that man was created into, and the glory that covered Adam’s body so that he needed no natural clothing. Our glorified bodies will be as such again. The benediction prayer used by some within Judaism before donning the Tallit gives insight to the glory of God that we can enjoy and also carry in our daily lives. The prayer goes as follows: “I am here enwrapping myself in this fringed robe, in fulfillment of the command of my Creator…And even as I cover myself with the tallit in this world, so may my soul deserve to be clothed with a beauteous spiritual robe in the world to come, in the garden of Eden.”
We learn that the tallit is a reminder not only of our descent from God’s original glory… but of our responsibility to live surrounded by God's light. By that Light we come to see our own, and our own light shines when we live by God's guidelines – His Holy Word.
The beauty of the prayer shawl is not the shawl itself. But, the beauty is the constant experience of having God in you and on you in a real and tangible way.... As you experience intimacy with Him through prayer which causes you to be charged with the Presence of God inside and out…
But, Even if you never get or use a prayer shawl….It is my hope that after seeing today's presentation you will begin thinking about spiritual truths as you gaze at a clear blue sky, see a rainbow, hold a silver coin in your hand, attend a wedding and look at the bride and groom, attend a baptism and see the baby clothed in white, put on a gold necklace, enter a tent, see a bird's nest,, or go to the zoo and see a camel. Every day sights and sounds can reveal truths about God. Rom. 1:20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Let’s silently meditate on the secrets we have learned today.
I would like to close with a Messianic Blessing that is said by Jewish followers of Jesus, as they put on their Prayer shawls… please say it with me. Blessed are you O' Lord - King of the Universe - Who has fulfilled all of the law through Yeshua the Messiah and has covered us with His righteousness.

The Secrets of the Prayer Shawl Be Enveloped Physically & Spiritually
The Jewish prayer shawl, called the Talith or “tallit” (tal eet) was commanded by God to the Jewish people in Deut. 22:12 and Num. 15:37-40 to be made with fringes on the borders of the garments throughout their generations… “...that you may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the Lord.”
The tallit can be made in a variety of sizes, materials (wool, silk or rayon) and decorations. The tallit is simply the garment that displays the divinely-ordained fringes
Atarah which means crown! It simply means “this side up”
The Crown of the High Priest James 1:12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. "Seeing we have such a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, a High Priest who can sympathize with our weaknesses (being tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin), let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:14-16). …a gold plate on which "HOLY TO THE LORD" was engraved .
"Speak to the children of Israel and say to them: They shall make for themselves fringes on the corners of their garments… And this shall be tzitzit for you, and when you see it, you will remember all the commandments of G-d, and perform them" (Numbers 15:38-39). You shall make tassels on the four corners of the garment with which you cover yourself. (Deuteronomy 22:12) The tassels on the corners of the prayer shawl are called “tzitzit,” (tzeet tzeet).
The LORD said to Moses, "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'Throughout the generations to come you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments, with a blue cord on each tassel.” Num. 15:38 The Murex snail (Ex. 19:6) The 10 Commandments were inscribed on a tablet of blue sapphire stone. Ex. 24:10 “The Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in His wings.” Malachi 4:2
The longer strand is called the Shammash (which means "servant“) and is the one used for the winding. tzitzit = 600 In addition there are 8 strands + 5 knots. The total is 613 The number of commandments In the Torah. 7+8=15, in Hebrew is yod-hay, the first two letters of God's name 11=vav+hay, the third and fourth letters of God's name. 13 = "echad" means "one."
WOOL – a symbol of warmth and comfort. Daniel had a vision of the Ancient One with clothes white as snow, and hair like pure wool, on His throne of fiery flames. LINEN – a pure garment that symbolizes righteousness, purity, and rest. “And to her [the Bride of Christ] was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white; for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.” Rev. 19:8
Gold – symbol of God, kingship, kingdom glory Tallits are often adorned with gold and silver! Both Joseph and Jesus were sold for silver. Judas was paid off in silver as the Scriptures said. Silver is redemption money. Silver is symbolic of the redemption that comes through Jesus Christ. Silver – symbol of redemption, ransom, the price of a soul (Mark 10:45)
FOUR CORNERS – four directions of the compass (all the earth) EAST – God’s Light & Glory. The Direction of Priests and Kings. For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. Matt. 24:27 WEST – The Ark of the Covenant – The place to intimately meet God, End of the Age NORTH – The Table of Shewbread – God’s Provision, true worship, authority, power SOUTH – The Menorah, refreshment - symbolizes the Torah and the Holy Spirit
Isaiah 43:5-6 (NIV) Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east, and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back.' Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth...
“TALITH” contains two words, “tal” meaning tent, and “ith” meaning little. Little tent. "How beautiful are your tents, O Jacob, your dwelling places, O Israel! Numbers 24:5
Thu, Apr. 9, 2009 ~ A rare Jewish ceremony to bless the Creator.
Mathew 6:6 “But thou, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” Greek word - Tameion means “closet” The Prayer Shawl is an opportunity to get silent and to go into your “closet” privately and to fellowship with God. A Prayer Closet
WINGS of the garment were formed when the arms were held out. So the corners of the prayer shawl are often called “wings.” “Wings” are referred to in Psalms 10 times, and the meaning is winged, feathered, edge, border, shirt, skirt, hem, garment! It is also translated “hem,” “corners” and “skirt” when speaking of the hem of Jesus’ garment, and of the prayer shawl. So “wings” often are a symbol of prayer, or a “secret place” of refuge! As the tallit was placed over the head, it formed a tent.
Psalm 91: 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
The tallit (prayer shawl) embraces us in our journey through life. A chuppah (Jewish bridal canopy)
The Prayer Shawl is present when sons are circumcised on the 8th day according to the Scriptures. The child is often wrapped in his father’s tallit after the circumcision… a gesture of comfort & love. Later the father will present this same tallit to his son at his Bar Mitzvah.
Finally, it wraps in death those who follow the custom of requesting burial in their tallit (prayer shawl).
The Jewish Prayer Shawl is a religious symbol, a garment, shroud, canopy, cloak… which envelops the Jew both physically and spiritually, in prayer and celebration, in joy and sorrow.
Joseph’s “coat of many colors”…. ….his tallit.
Joseph - Clothed in Righteousness 10 colors represented the 10 Northern tribes of Israel. Prophetic meaning -The 2 houses of Joseph will return to YHWH & his Torah in the Last Days, as symbolized by Joseph's coat. The name Joseph means "Will do again"
Elijah’s mantle …a tallit made of fine camel’s hair. (2 Kings 1:8; and Zechariah 13:4)
2 Kings 1:8 They replied, "He was a man with a garment of hair and with a leather belt round his waist." The king said, "That was Elijah the Tishbite." “garment” – Hebrew meaning glory, cloak * glory, splendour, magnificence (of a vine, shepherds) * A mantle, cloak made of fur or fine material * A prophet's garment
SYMBOLISM - Since the times of Abraham, the camel has been a symbol of wealth. And my God will fully supply your every need according to his glorious riches in the Messiah Jesus. Phil. 4:19 The camel's habit of kneeling to be loaded up made it a symbol of prayer… … and also of the uncomplaining Christian taking up his burden or cross, in imitation of Jesus. Protection - Camel hair has thermostatic properties which protect and insulate the camel in high mountain cold and blizzards… while keeping cool in desert heat.
2 Kings 1:7-9 They replied, "He was a man with a garment of hair and with a leather belt around his waist." The king said, "That was Elijah the Tishbite." "hair" – (Hebrew) to storm away, sweep away, whirl away …this is a prophetic word fulfilled in 2 Kings 2:11 As they [Elijah & Elisha] were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. Now notice the word “hair”…
John the Baptist also wore a tallit made of fine camel’s hair... ….some believe that it was actually Elijah’s own mantle! Mark 1:6 John wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. Camel hair – (Greek) to deal fully with, Recompense, To deal bountifully
Isaiah 62:11 The LORD has made proclamation to the ends of the earth: "Say to the Daughter of Zion, 'See, your Savior comes! See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.' "
The Apostle Paul was a Rabbi and a “tent” maker…. ..one who weaves tallits!
Jesus wore a tallit, as would be the custom and expectations of a Jewish Rabbi of that day.
Remember the woman who touched Jesus from in the crowd? “Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.” Luke 8:43-44 She knew that if she grasped the tassels of his tallit, her request for healing could not be denied.
Mark 5:38-40 (Amplified Bible) When they arrived at the house of the ruler of the synagogue, He looked [carefully and with understanding] at [the] tumult and the people weeping and wailing loudly. And when He had gone in, He said to them, Why do you make an uproar and weep? The little girl is not dead but is sleeping. And they laughed and jeered at Him. But He put them all out, and, taking the child's father and mother and those who were with Him, He went in where the little girl was lying. It was customary in a Jewish burial to cover a female corpse with a tallit while preparing the body.
The word “talitha” in this verse also carries the meaning of ”covering”, “spotted”…and “lamb” The young woman (the spotted lamb, sinful by nature) was “covered” (in the power of the tallit) by the Word Of God ( the spotless Lamb – Messiah!) Mk. 5:41-42 “Gripping her [firmly] by the hand, He said to her, Talitha cumi--which translated is, Little girl, I say to you, arise [from the sleep of death]! And instantly the girl got up and started walking around--for she was twelve years old. And they were utterly astonished and overcome with amazement.” “cumi” is Hebraic for “arise” Death was overcome by Life!
Psalm 63:7 Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 36:7 How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
The Tallit is used as a Chupah (wedding canopy) The Jews teach that the Divine Presence of God in the Garden of Eden, personally blessed Adam & Eve under the canopy of Heaven. The Chupah also reminds us of Abraham and Sarah’s tent which was said to be open on all sides to welcome visitors from all directions. The Chupah symbolizes warmth, openness and hospitality of the home the couple will create together. The marriage between Christ and His Bride will also take place under the canopy of Heaven. Is. 40:22
The wedding is a picture of the covenant Jesus made and reveals His plans to return for his Bride, the church. Eph. 5:31-32 Ruth 3:9 “I am your servant Ruth,” she replied. “Spread the corner of your covering (skirt, wing, tassels) over me, for you are my family redeemer.”
Did you know that God wears a tallit? The light of the world is God's tallit, God's robe, God's tent. And when we clothe and wrap ourselves in the prayer shawl, we symbolically connect ourselves to the light of creation and to the light within ourselves. "Bless Adonai, my soul! Adonai my God, how great You are, clothed in majesty and glory, wrapped in light like a robe. You spread out the heavens like a tent."
God’s Tallit of Light White light is the primal light of creation. It is seen through a prism as the rainbow. Purple - Day 1 of Creation - the first ultra-violet light to emerge from the darkness. Blue - Day 2 - the waters above are separated from the waters below. Green – Day 3 - the vegetation was created on the 3rd day. Yellow - Day 4 – Sun, moon, stars Orange - Day 5 - egg laying fish, birds reptiles (symbolizes the yolk) Red – Day 6 - the blood of LIFE - mammals Brown – Day 7 - earth/Adam - we came from dust and to dust return. God's glory as manifest in the universe God's faithfulness to His covenant
At the climatic time of Christ's return, (in the clouds again, Matthew 24:30) the cloud pictured by the great upheaval in the heaven and earth will be followed by the new covenant that the rainbow in the book of Revelation pictures. Rev. 4:3 and Rev. 10:11
The glory of God covered Adam’s body so that he needed no natural clothing. “I am here enwrapping myself in this fringed robe, in fulfillment of the command of my Creator…And even as I cover myself with the tallit in this world, so may my soul deserve to be clothed with a beauteous spiritual robe in the world to come, in the garden of Eden.” Our glorified bodies will be as such again.
By cloaking ourselves in light, we may see where we are going, who we have come from, and who we want to be.
God promises to reward you openly for your time spent with Him in private. This is the secret of a tallit. This is the goal we strive for by wearing the tallit… and that is to have God tangibly present on you and in you …without having to wear a tallit.
