Half Hollow Hills Community Library This is our homepage.
There is a lot you can do on our site.
Searching the catalog is easy. Just type in a title, author, or any key words you can think of.
That means it’s out. But you can reserve it!
Even if the book you want is out, you can still put it on hold. This way you will get it as soon as it becomes available.
Click on “Request Item” to reserve something.
Just put in your library bar code, password, and pick up location.
You just put something on hold!
But wait! There’s more!
You can register for programs online too!
Type in the name, or even part of the name of the program. Books alive
Registered!
We also have downloadable media.
(NetLibrary is really cool.)
This is the NetLibrary Media Center. If you download this, everything will be a breeze.
We have a blog for teens! http://hhhlteens.blogger.com
Scroll down a little on the side bar to find these helpful resource buttons. First is a link to our library’s homepage, then a link to our catalog, a link to Suffolk Homework Help (we’ll go over that in a minute), a link to Answers 24x7 (it’s an online reference desk), and a link to our Teen Facebook page.
Below those resource buttons, we also have Homework Links, College & Careers Links, Magazine Links, Author Links, and Other fun and helpful links. But now let’s look at the Suffolk Homework Help.
(Click there) There are live tutors!
Another Cool Feature? Click on the Learning Express Library
12 Different Learning Centers Available! We’re going to look at High School and College Preparation today, since they’re the most relevant to teenagers.
For High School, chose from math, reading comprehension, vocabulary and spelling, or writing and grammar. Each section expands to show sub-topics.
Each of those then expands farther, to display practice tests and online courses. And you can click on each test or course for more details.
Here is a sample from the “High School Math Course 1: Number Sense 1—Classifications, Fractions, & Decimals” lesson:
In College Preparation there is ACT prep, AP prep, CLEP prep, CUNY Skills Assessment Tests prep, PSAT/NMSQT prep, SAT prep, THEA prep, and TOEFL prep.
These also have subdivisions.
Learning Express Library can help children, teens, and adults practice and prepare for all kinds of different tests and evaluations!
Summary: This presentation was made to be run in a loop for hours, as a background for parents of teenagers who are in a regents review program. The original presentation had embedded movies and some additional features in it that didn't transfer correctly into SlideBoom, but most of it the slides and animations are there.
