Seattle Seafair Pirates Pirate Kings of the Northwest since 1949 Every summer since 1949, the Seafair festivities have begun with the annual proclamation of Davy Jones’ renewed warfare upon the upstart, so-called “King” Neptune. In due course the city falls and the Mayor hands over the keys to the city at the Pirate’s Landing. The Seafair Pirates have triumphed again! Not only involved in Seafair, the Seattle Seafair Pirates participate in parades and community events throughout the State of Washington on a year-round basis. Visitations to hospitals, children’s homes, telethons and similar activities are all part of the Seafair Pirate’s activities. Always seeking to promote Seattle and the great Northwest, as roving goodwill ambassadors, the Seafair Pirates have traveled the world raising the Jolly Roger in ports of call from Canada, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan and the Caribbean.

For 60 years, this unique to Seattle extravaganza and visual feast kicks off the Seafair schedule of summer events. Forty to Fifty fully costumed and sword clad Pirates sail across Seattle’s own Elliott Bay to land their assault on Alki Beach.

EVENT DESCRIPTION: (continued) Once on land, the Pirates shiver their timbers and interact with the crowd in character to the thrill of the kid in everyone. All the press are there. This is one of Seattle’s major media photo opportunities.

EVENT DESCRIPTION: (continued) The Seafair Pirates are greeted on the beach by the media and well over 50,000 screaming Pirate fans. This in addition to a complete festival on the beach with food booths, gift and craft vendors, inflatable rides, Car Toys AfterShock music stage, Pole Vaulting tournaments and much, much more. After the Pirates have worked the crowd, the beach and the festival, they leave the Beach and proceed to the On-Premise portion of the promotion visiting select accounts in support of sponsors of the event.
