The gland holding the poison is called the Crural gland (also called the alveolar gland). This gland is located in the pelvis area of the back leg of the male platypus.

This venom is Very deadly…to rats. To humans it does not kill you, but it is slightly painful and bothersome. The venom is a DLP (Defense Like Protein)
