Update on progress
Maintaining the premises Last Church meeting we agreed spend of £60,000 on a list of Priority 1 items. These items need immediate attention because either Health & Safety Legislation is being breached or the requirements of an external body are not being met.
Maintaining the premises You will also recall that included on the list of Priority 1 items is the work required to make the building watertight in order to prevent further deterioration of the fabric of the building.
Maintaining the premises Work completed to date: Asbestos Survey Fire risk assessment survey Works to the frontage of 189 Leigh Road, redecoration & new carpets Repair to Pall Mall corridor roof & ceiling Work to the roofs across the site
Maintaining our premises Work scheduled for the summer Fixed electrical inspection of entire site – 20th July for 2 weeks. Asbestos removal from the Sanctuary loft void – 10th August for 2 weeks. PAT testing all portable electrical appliances Work for completion as a result of Fire assessment report. e.g. 25 doors need a fire resistance of 30 minutes.

Storage around site Storage proposals are to be completed by September Over the summer holidays changes will be made to the stores in the Primary Room, Main Hall & The Stables Boiler Room. With objective of locating Pre-school stores as close as poss’ to where they are required.
Changing the premises 3 architects submitted 3 design concepts. Development Team, Project Board & Leadership Team studied plans & received presentations by the 3 architects. Church members & friends attended an evening of prayer, worship & consultation at LRBC, Thurs 18 June 09

Preferred design choice Collated feedback from the meeting of church members and friends reveals that: 26 votes = Lewis Patten Chartered Ach. 7 votes = Urbanology 4 votes = Mathews Serjeant Partnership 2 votes = Lewis Patten & Urbanology equal first 3 votes = Did not know
Of those whose first preference was: Lewis Patten They most liked the ‘good externals’ and the large welcome area They most disliked the spire/rotunda feature (11 comments) and the location of the pre-school storage.
Of those whose first preference was: Urbanology Liked the ‘incorporation of church features’, the glazing and the front entrance design. Disliked the limited ventilation to pre-school and the small welcome area.
Of those whose first preference was: Mathews Serjeant Liked the flexibility it offered Big ‘dislike’ was the lack of elevations to Marguerite Drive making it very difficult to imagine what the proposals would look like from the outside.
Changing the premises: The Leadership’s Recommendation Based on church feedback received the recommendation is to engage Lewis Patten Chartered Architects, subject to agreeing their fee structure.

Moving forward with Lewis Patten In engaging Lewis Patten they will be asked to incorporate the feedback we collected into a new design feasibility The church will be consulted at various stages during the design process. The Development Team will have a series of Design Meetings with the architect.
