People nominated for Hat Person of the Year must be: Living Well-known publicly such as an actor, politician, athlete, or someone easily identifiable to the general public Wear a hat in their everyday life - not just performing a character on television, in the theatre, movie or concert

Hat Day in the Sun Annually in June, THA launches Hat Day in the Sun, an annual national public awareness campaign to educate adults and children about how the right hat can protect against skin cancer, premature skin damage, and the advanced aging process. To celebrate this event, THA members give away close to 3,000 wide-brimmed sun-protection hats across the country

Headwear for the Homeless Annually in December, THA members distribute thousands of cold-weather hats to men, women and children at local shelters and non-profit organizations nationwide.
