The Missing Parents Part 1 by Chemar in South Africa Part 2 by Ben from Canada Part 3 by Nico, Holgi and Joaco from Argentina A collaborative three-nation story
Part 1: Where are my parents?
"Where did everyone go?" I shouted, but there was no answer. I looked around frightened. I don't know where everyone went. If you're wondering what I am talking about well, I'll start from the beginning. It was just an ordinary day. I got up, ate breakfast (pancakes yummy), brushed my teeth and set out for school. It was quite a long walk but I enjoyed the view of the mountains and the singing of the birds. When I got to school I was glad to see my friends again.
Part 2: The search
"Hey guys!" I shouted across the field. " Oh, Hi John" said Colin. "This morning was really weird," I told them " I woke up and my parents were gone!" "That's weird," said Colin "so were mine." "Really?" I asked "What do you think happened to them?" "Well, maybe...nah." said Colin. "What?" I asked with enthusiasm. "Maybe they were kidnapped." he said.
I thought about that. It seemed like a very possible solution. Colin and I started to worry. Maybe there was a parent kidnapper on the loose, kidnapping parents and letting the children die.
Colin and I were often accused of having too big an imagination, and I can't help but think that was true. A few minutes later, the bell rang. We both went inside and sat at our desks. We were unable to shake the idea that our parents had been kidnapped, and were being tortured by some sick-minded criminal. I decided I should call them to see if they were alright.
"Mr.Smith?" I called my teacher, with my hand up in the air. I stood up. "Yes?" he answered. "Can I use the phone?" I said. "No, if you want to use the phone, you'll have to wait until lunch!“ he bellowed. He had obviously been asked that more than once.
Colin and I waited for thirty more minutes. We were unable to sit Any longer. We waited until the teacher turned his back and ran out the door. When we reached the phone, it had an "out of order“ sign on it. We had no choice but to go home and call them.
We raced across the field and ran down the sidewalk, trying to reach home as fast as we could. When we reached my house, I picked up the phone and called my mom's cell phone. After three rings, she answered her phone.
"Hello?" she said. "Mom!" I yelled "Where are you? What's going on?“ "John," she answered with a tone of frustration "Your father and I left for work early today. We told you about it countless times and even left a note on the counter." I looked to my right. There was a Post-It note sitting there waiting for me. "What about Colin's parents?" I asked. "Same thing." she replied with a sigh. "Oh." I said in a very embarrassed voice. "Well?" Colin asked " What's going on?"
Part 3: The cave
I wasn´t so convinced about the co-incidence that Colin´s parents and mine had. I would not leave things like this. I decided to investigate. The next day again my parents were not in my house. After school I decided to go to the libary. I looked for magic books. At first it was useless, but then I found something! I borrowed it and took it home and started to read the book.
When I tried to read the book I heard noises outside..I looked from the window and I saw my parents converted into strange People with some aliens. I started to run to escape.
It was useless. They trapped me. I was sent with Colin and his parents and my parents into a secret cave. In that moment I remembered I had the magic book in my bag.
It said that the word we had to say to destroy the aliens was “poronçelositos”. Suddenly the aliens disappeared and our parents turned into humans again. We all went back home exhausted but happy to be together again. THE END
