Lucas and the Monster A collaborative three-nation story Part 1 by Davpre in South Africa Part 2 by Daeho in Canada Part 3 by Vicki in Argentina

Slide 2

Part 1: Knock, knock – who is there?

Slide 3

Late one night someone knocked on the door . No one answered ,so he smashed the door open. creeeeeek . It was a.a.a.a. a monster!

Slide 4

Part 2. It can’t really be a monster!

Slide 5

There was a boy called Lucas. He is eight years old and he lives in New York, America. He lives with one cat and one bird. The monster was coming toward him. The monster was really big and ugly! Its breath stunned the bird too. Lucan was so scared, and he ran as fast as he could to the master bedroom, where his parents slept. He cried, "Mommy! Daddy! It's a scary, big, and ugly monster! It's heading to the basement! I think that monster is going to eat our cats! Hurry!"

Slide 6

Lucas's mother and father woke up, and said, "Lucas, we think you had a bad dream. It's okay, you'll be fine with us." Then suddenly, they heard a banging noise from the living room, and Lucas's parents still couldn't believe what they heard. Lucas's mother said, "I'll check down at the living room; the noise, horrifies my brain!" Lucas thought she sounded scared.

Slide 7

Three minutes later, she came back with the bird and the cats, and her face was terrified as if she had stepped on a piece of pointy glass. Her vocal chords were shivering, so she couldn’t talk. She didn't know what to do after she had seen the monster. Lucas gave her a cup of water, and she cooled down. She started to talk about  what happened in the living room. "I took a flash light with me, and I saw the monster trying to reach for my bird, so I said stop and he looked at me. Then he made a scratching noise as if he was hurt.

Slide 8

She continued with her story. “He ran away from me, to where there was no light at all. I think that the monster will die if we turn all the lights on. Let's try that." Lucas and his father were just standing there, wondering if that would really work or if that monster had tricked the mom. They took three flash lights, and head down to the living room.

Slide 9

They slowly stepped down the stairs. Lucas's mother was still terrified. We saw the monster, still ugly and disgusting, but it was smaller than the last time. We turn the light on. The living room was flooded with light. The monster made another scratching noise, and my father stunned. He usually weakened when hearing those scratching noises. The monster shrunk and shrunk and finally disappeared, and my mom was also stunned, She just fainted.

Part 3: A happy ending!

Slide 11

The next day was so sleepy I had to stay at home. My mother stayed with me because of the incident of the previous night so I was safe. But I was still scared. What if the monster became big again? What if it ate my mom and then ate me? What if my dad came back from home and found us dead? What if the monster escaped and started killing people? I realized I had to rest for the monster was taking over my thoughts and making me frightened to death. When I got into the bed, I started hearing a screeching noise and I told myself not to panic.  "It is only my imagination,“ I said to myself. "It is not real." But still, the shreaking continued.  I went downstairs to find something to eat and what I saw was absolutely amazing. The monster was under the little table – dead. What a relief! THE END
